So we are back and with more of the world of Willy Wonka and his Chocolate so we took a look at the 2005 version and then the 1971 version! We are now in the new updated version or latest release and this is 2023s WONKA! Playing Willy Wonka is Timothy Chalmet. Armed with nothing but a hatful of dreams, young chocolatier Willy Wonka manages to change the world, one delectable bite at a time. We think this is a great addition to this franchise adding more context to the character Willy Wonka and in a sense showing us the origin of his ways to summarize but it’s great and dope addition to his story we’ve never seen on screen

I cried like a baby when I saw the note on gold wrapper and he started singing Pure Imagination. I can't wait for Adventures in Loompa Land.

The movie wasn't really marketed as a musical. So it was a pleasant surprise.

@kawaii33366 I agree! I can NOT believe how many people disliked Wonka! And how many were saying the songs were generic or forgettable!? Oh my goodness, I have been singing "Scrub Scrub" while doing my laundry ever since I saw this movie in theaters. I LOVED the songs and the music! It sucks that so many people decide to hate purely to hate!

I am glad that you both liked the film. Okay white gold, you really liked the film throughout and then at the end you were like eh it was okay. Come on now, I could see the magic in yalls eyes. Its okay to love this movie. Its closer to the source material and more like Gene Wilders version than Jonny Depp.

This is its own movie. It’s not a prequel to either of the other movies. 38:11 it’s mimicking a religious thing. Judas sold out Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. So in this the priest is comparing himself to Judas but instead of Silver the currency is chocolate.

When I watch anything, I always add my phone character/storyline, just to see if it would make it better. For Wonka, it starts in the flashback scene when Willie is remembering his life with his mom, and she says, "When you do share chocolate with the world, I'll be right there beside you" Instead what she says in my version is, "We'll be right there beside you," as she hugs her stomach. When Willie talks about his mother's passing, He mentions that she "took his little sister with her before he could meet her. Or even learn her name." Throughout the movie, we can see a little girl who is always next to him in Willie's daydreams and dance numbers. The scene where Willie is sitting on the steps of the Cathedral, The same little girl Goes up to him and asks if she can sit With him. Then she jumps up and yells, "Mama!" And runs into the arms of Willie's mother. They smile and wave at him as he sits there. he was not able to do anything but smile and wave back with tears in his eyes. As he blinks the tears out of his eyes, his mother and sister disappear. In the final scene when Noodle reunites with her mother, And Willie sings pure imagination, It's cut in and out with shots of Willy's mother and sister mirrorring Noodle and her mother

Must be a prequel to Willy wonka & the chocolate factory and not the Depp version, Gene Wilder has a line where he says "change that reverse it" Willy says that in this film also i noticed

This movie could be set it an alternate universe for it to make sense. Wonka is a bonafide blockbuster, so they very well could make a sequel, I'm just hoping it's a little bit darker. Gene Wilder's version doesn't really match-up with Tim's Wonka, unless Willy has suffered some trauma and suppressed it, imagining something better than what actually happened. The mother for instance was questionable, she left Wonka this hidden message and expects him to read it, but neglects to teach him the basics like to read and write. One could argue that she passed-on before properly educating Willy, but the kid version of Wonka looked old enough to read, plus Willy is a genius. I find it hard to believe that a child taught Wonka to read, but not his own mother who supposedly loves him. What if she actually abandoned her own son, or worse, left him a suicide note that Wonka imagines says something else, like the secret of sharing the chocolate.

its a movie lol. Wonkas zaniness in this film, represents his dark side in the Gene Wilder version. Plus he has many years of experience in life before he shuts out the world. I am sure that in the sequel that is explained. Thats why its a prequel. :)

Zaniness means a comical person given to extravagant or outlandish behavior, it does not represent Wonka's dark side lol.
