I actually think something like this could work really well with Thomas the Tank Engine. I mean think about it, a fresh new take from only the railway books with some form of Paddington essence to it could honestly be really great if done right.
I had NO expectations for this film... A Wonka prequel seemed like such a cheap idea, but I was completely blown away by almost everything, especially the music. This reprise was a nice cherry on top of a genuinely great movie. You can feel the love and passion the creators had for the source material, and it shows. 10/10 would be in a world of pure imagination again.
This movie was WAY better than it had any business being. It is a wonderful, happy, silly, light, enjoyable family movie. Chalamet makes a perfect young Wonka. The songs are great, the acting is great and the story is great. I was simply blown away at how much I enjoyed it.
I shared the same sentiment. I had no intention of watching Wonka but needed something to watch based on the reviews. Wonka exceeded beyond my expectations and Timothée Chalamet's charisma made me smile throughout the whole movie! Must watch for sure!
it's a shame how Gene Wilder passed away before he could see this wonderful tribute to the character, by Timothee, that he made into such an iconic role. It showed Wonka's dedication through financial struggles, fighting against the corporate corruption that tries to push him down, his positive and vibrant attitude in the face of cruel hardship and his love of helping others. Gene Wilder would've been proud!
Gene would have hated it. He already came out and said he hated the Depp version and thought it was completely unnecessary (it is). No offense to Timothee, but this film should not have been made and goes completely against the original.
@@danielstefanovich8388Funny that you say this when Wilder's version is the one that went completely against the source material and was hated by the author
@@Fred-xy9ch Yes, but as a movie was shockingly superior. It's difficult to judge a book compared to a movie. It's pretty damn easy to judge a movie against another movie. The point stands - this commenter said that Gene would have loved it. We have pretty strong evidence that no, he would not have, and he probably would have been relatively outspoken about his dislike for it. As he should.
I saw an interview with Timotheé that he was singing this live when they were filming, instead of lip syncing, so those little imperfect touches made it an even better rendition and way to end the film. Made me walk out of the theater with a smile.
Hearing Hugh just bluntly state "It's a ruined castle..." in the middle of the song made me and my friend laugh hard in the cinema seeing this. Man this is such a feel-good movie.
This is that part that BROKE me. Brought back memories of my Dad, I was 8 years old when he took me to see Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory at the Capitol Theatre in Manila. All the memories flooded back…
The original version of this quote goes all the way back to Shakespeare: "So shines a good deed in a naughty world" -- Funny how great ideas come back around. Kinda like how great characters like Wonka (himself) come back around too.
I just saw this movie and I ugly cried for like 10min Im 36yr old and seeing this brought a flood of memories and emotions. I forgot the feelings, emotions and child wonder of what imagination used to be. Even if only for a few minutes I could taste what imagination used to be 😭❤😭
@@taliagmail.com2005 Enjoy, enjoy! Be sure to ride Flight of Passage. It was so good, I teared up at the end. Rise of the Resistance is also worth the wait!
Timothee Chalamet was meant to be Willy Wonka, but I'm disappointed that this isn't nominated at the Oscars, but other then that, this was a great film and my favorite film of 2023
SO disappointed that this didn't get ANY Oscar accolades, or Nominations! Just RIDICULOUS!! FANTASTIC Movie, FANTASTIC Cast, Timothee as Willy Wonka, was SPECTACULAR!! What a SHAME!
@@amandapike2477 yea that doesn’t mean anything. there are multiple plot holes as well as a few scenes that were lazily written. it’s a great movie but let’s not start giving out awards for mediocrity
I almost cried from listening to the first three notes to the music. Brings back the memories of Willy Wonka with Gene Wilder. He would’ve loved Timothy’s performance of Wonka if he were alive.
When I first saw this song at the end, I legitimately cried; it was so heartfelt seeing Noodle reuniting with her mother and seeing the beginnings of Wonka's factory like this. I'm really glad I saw this movie.
in gene wilder's version of this song, he sang it as if all possibility can be achieve even if its on your imagination but at the same time it looks like he was having some doubts or regrets while singing, since he sang it as if remembering things, this one however implies that his dreams has just begun and not to be afraid....i love both version of the song
This movie lived up to the reputation of the original movie and legacy of the book. I left satisfied and free, Gene Wilder would have been proud of this movie if he was alive
@@SphiinxsDen they announced 5 years after he died in early 2021 which is now 3 years ago since they announced it and almost 8 years ago since gene wilder past away
I Swear. This Ending Almost Made Me Cry. Just Seeing Noodle Return To Her Mom Warms My Heart. And Everything Else Was Just Perfect. Like Willy Creating His Factory Along With Lofty (Or Shortypants 🤣) As His Assistant In The Tasting Department. 👍 But The Best Part? Is Timothée’s Reprise Of Pure Imagination. 10/10 Would Watch Again.👌
without trauma dumping in the comments section of a youtube video, long story short the original willy wonka was very important to me as a child and the moment he said "...come with me-" i bursted into tears like an inconsolable child
Man I LOVE the ending, the beginning, and all the middle! I went in with LOW expectations and left as my favorite movie of 2023…maybe 24 as well 🤷♂️ Thanks for sharing this ❤️🙏
@@justineves3588 yessss! Like I want to watch it again now haha. We went to go to our local theatre the next day to watch it again last Friday and they pulled it 😱😭
I'll honest, my top 3 movies of the year were Wonka, Five Nights at Freddy's, and Meg 2: The Trench. Out of all of them, Meg 2 comes in 2nd and FNAF and Wonka are tied for 1st
The way the audio pops at 2:44, when the song picks up, is done remarkably well! This was one of the absolute best parts of the movie. It almost makes me want them to do a sequel, being the traditional Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, with another follow up sequel being Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator. Going into this movie I didn’t think I’d say it, but after finishing it I can confidently say that I wouldn’t mind seeing more of Chalamet’s Wonka. I don’t really think it’s in the cards anyway, but they’ve captured something special with this film, and with it comes great potential!
It’s better if the sequel was a Great Glass Elevator Adaptation because we already know the traditional Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Story. For the opening credits not only I want to see flashback drawings of Wonka I also want to see drawings of the story we all know, you know Wonka invites five lucky people in his factory, Charlie finds the last golden ticket, the four rotten kids meet their demises and Charlie winning the grand prize and being selected as Wonka’s heir.
The chap who made it has definitely expressed a wish to do at least one more film, as there are about 25 years between this one and the original. Lots of time to fill ❤
I think they should make one more with Chalamet to fill in what may have happened between this one and Wilder’s. Lots of time to fill, and what’s the journey between this Wonka and the more edgy, slightly sinister Wilder Wonka? Some interesting things could happen. Haven’t read the books, so I don’t know.
@@TheRealFrandudenah they should give it an original sequel to continue young willy's adventures and ofcourse I wanna see more of timothee as wonka he nails the role
Come with me, and you be in a world of Pure Imagination. Reach out, touch what was once just in your imagination. Don’t be shy, it’s alright if you feel a little trepidation. Come with me and you’ll be in a world of Pure Imagination! Take a look and you’ll see into your imagination! We’ll begin with a spin, traveling in the world of my creation! What we’ll see will defy explanation! If you want to view paradise, Simply look around and view it! Anything you want to do it! Want to change the world? There’s nothing to it! There is no life I know to compare with Pure Imagination! Living there you’ll be free if you truly wish to be!
Like some of you, I kinda scoffed when this was announced. Had thoughts of "Hollywood is running out of ideas" which is a reasonable thought to have in some circumstances, but this blew me away when I sat down in the theater to see it. There is so much purity, humanity, and big-heartedness in this film. The writers etc cared deeply about the source material while also telling a fun and colorful original story. And Timothee was simply brilliant as Willy Wonka. Maybe he doesn't have the edge that Gene had, but he's got all of the heart and he's so wholesome and easy to root for. This might go down as one of my favorite movies of all time. I've seen it in the theater 3 times and am planning to go a 4th time this week. I need to enter a world of pure imagination one more time before the physical release
I've never really liked 'Pure Imagination' until this film. How it fits in context with Noodle's want to see her mom was a great touch. It really helped the inclusion of the song move beyond just homage to the 1971 film to something that feels like it fits within the current film at hand. The film was really delightful. Loved Paul King's vision for it.
I always felt that 'Pure Imagination' was one of those songs you don't appreciate until you're older. I remember when I was younger and watched the original, I thought the song itself was boring and the only saving grace for it was the setting. It wasn't until I got older I learned to love it and the message. Though i will admit, as much as i love Gene Wilder, I actually prefer this version. I think it's the increase in the tempo.
@@RedHall I also loved Chalamet's version of Pure Imagination, and it's arrangement makes sense too. Chalamet is a younger, more hopeful and optimistic Wonka. Wilder is an older, sadder, and tired Wonka. His version of Pure Imagination is more wistful. He still believes in it but he is human and has worked on his candy a long time. So he was now looking for his successor.
Absolutely a masterpiece that ending when they showed the castle transform into the 1970s set Willy Wonka's Gene Wilder's Factory I just lost it I broke into tears thank you Hollywood for finally doing this franchise Justice❤❤❤❤
I am proud to admit that I actually cried during this scene. The nostalgia and giddiness of seeing my childhood and lifelong dream come true right before my eyes was something I had been longing for since I first saw the original. I have to admit... when I heard about there being a prequel to my all time favorite movie being made, my expectations were... not all that high. I mean why mess why the perfection that was.. well, already perfect? But when I went to watch the movie, I was surprised by how well written and the attention to all the details they included. I had ignored all the articles and press about the movie, so imagine my surprise to find it a musical of all things. Now, I know that the first movies had musical numbers in them, but I still wasn't expecting it to be a sibling to them!!! All in all, I am very happy and proud by how well the movie came out.
My mother and I saw this in theaters and the moment this part came up she started crying as she thought about her childhood when she first saw Willy Wonka.
just shows wonka was always a pure boy who just wanted to make the world better. nothing changed, he stayed the same even after getting famous. why can't more people be like that? XD
I loved the way Wonka looked at Noodle when she was starting to walk towards her mother, then when she looked back at him he smiled, happy for her. I loved that part, it was a beautiful detail to Wonka’s kind, caring personality. Wonka and Timothée are both such good people with good hearts. Timothée did a good job as his own version of Willy Wonka, so as Gene Wilder (I didn’t watch his movie yet…..) and Johnny Depp’s version of the fictional character. I wish I could taste what Wonka’s chocolate taste one day, I was literally craving chocolate after watching it 3 times- Anywayyyyyyy I love Timothée’s movies and so as this one, this one is amazing and so as his singing!! I hope that he gets what he wants and stars in good movies, keep going Timothée!
My little daughter is almost 5 but she loved wonka much more than wish! She loves this song and she still talks about willy wonka! I wanna watch it again ❤
@@cooldude2512 awww sooo cute! We hope it will come fast on DVD! My little one ask me everyday to watch wonka but i cannot go everyday to the cinema 😅 Glad to hear that there are other parents with the same sweet situation! We have sweet daugthers 🤩
My children and love this film. My son does especially. I think it actually helps him stay grounded when he struggles. Thank you Timothy Chalamet and whoever else made this possible!
I don’t know if Gene would’ve like this,he said himself he didn’t want a sequel or prequel to Wonka,so they waited after he died to announce the new movie
I have this song in my head for hours even days again and again Just shows how catchy the song is!! Make us all think we are Willy Wonka As he says: We are the music makers and we are the dreamers of dreams!
There is no doubt in my mind that if Gene Wilder were alive today, he would have been proud of what they accomplished. It’s not just a film but a love story to the tale of Willy Wonka and a tribute to the great Gene Wilder
When this started to play, I knew they were gunning for the grand, magical and satisfying ending I had in my mind. Happy to say that I wasn’t disappointed.
When I saw this at the movies 2 months ago, I said “So that’s how Willy became Wonka.”. I showed an image of Timothee to my sister and she said he’s cute.🥹
@@silverstar1178 well I'm not sure about him going nuts. We still need to see exactly how the factory was made possible and for when he was able to get all the Oompa Loompas to work for him.
This film was so wholesome. My kids love the songs too!! For some reason this last part kind of got me. With him ans his mom and Noodle reuniting with hers.
My favorite part about this song is that it really feels like 2 different songs stuck together. It's slow and melodic when Wonka is watching Noodle reconnect with her mother. He's reconnecting with this own Mother through her. And then it switches to a bright and upbeat song as he gets excited about the factory and his own ideas start to run wild through his head. I can't think of a better way to end this wonderful movie.
Timothee chalamet is cute as hell as wonka his voice is calming and his smile is perfect xx❤❤❤❤ and my best friend sees him as a comfort when she is really down and i never thought about having a fav actor to be a comfort she says he cheers her up and yeah but he is soooo cute ❤❤❤❤
I know they probably used special effects for this sequence but they were just so good! The look of the Chocolate Factory is so mesmerizing and looks like the original but finds ways to make it their own.
12/10, best movie to come out of 2023, no question What I love about this movie is that they never really explain how his chocolate magical properties, its not even addressed by the other cast they just say its "great chocolate" despite knowing they are made out of fantastical/impossible ingredients. The magic behind of the chocolate isn't the point, its the love behind the chocolate that really give it is true magic.
