This is the first video of a chainsaw carving time-lapse with commentary. There should be many more to come so please subscribe to see future videos.
This video is mostly about the finishing of the moose because the footage from the shaping of the moose did not turn out.

I get that you want people to know it's a carving, I would too, but someone mistaking it for the real thing is about as good of a compliment as you could get in my opinion. Beautiful work sir.

My first nine years was living in a remote Alaskan village. We had a lot of salmon and moose meat. Watching you carve such a beautiful example of this creature makes me how majestic of a beast a moose really is.

Most amazing part is when you painted the eyes. It went from a statue to (almost) alive with a few brushstrokes. I expected it to shake it's head. Amazing!!!

WOW! I have done a lot of wood carving, but nothing like that! Yesterday, I found my first ever set of shed moose antlers. I was thinking of carving a wooden skull to put them on, like a European mount.......now you have me thinking bigger! Trouble is, I live in a trailer house!!

I guessed when you started staining that you used to paint..This is so beautifully done ,yes it does look real,only from seeing them in videos as I am in the U.K. ..I like the idea of a piece of beautiful art sitting on the wall rather than the real thing .Your very talented and it was a real pleasure watching this moose come alive 😀

I really enjoyed your video. It reminds me of a moose head mount in a variety store here in Bloomington, In. Where my dad took me to by my first Carhardt and Redwing boots when I started my apprenticeship back in 1984. It was also the store where I bought the first gun with my own money. The head seemed to be about eight feet from the bottom of the neck to the top of the antlers.

@Craig G No they grew on moose. Moose shed their antlers every year, so there is a decent chance no moose were harmed. I work as a tree-planter/thinner, spend 6 months of the year in the middle of nowhere - Not a single season has gone by where I haven't found naturally shed antlers just lying on the ground. Alot of people sell the antlers they find so it is very possible they came that way (also very possible they were hunted). Just go on kijiji (Canadian craigslist equivalent) in an area with moose and you'll see people asking for sheds. That being said, these have the same break pattern at the base that natural sheds have - whereas many hunters cleanly cut them off making me lean towards natural sheds (I assume there is a way to get them off with a natural break pattern, but as I don't hunt I haven't seen it)

Here’s the funny thing... if I walked into a Moose Heads 'R' Us, and saw this thing, and it had a $1,000 price tag on it, I’d say "they can pound sand" and leave. But after seeing this video, $1,000 is way too cheap. I’d feel so bad paying that little for it, I’d probably duke the carry out kid an extra five or an Applebee’s 2 for 1 coupon or something for helping me load it.

I am a new subscriber! Very peaceful and comforting to watch. I could never afford to have you make a piece for me. But if I could, it would be of my German Shepherd Dog Moose. In 2018 we were in a house fire. I was thrown across the room from the explosion. Hurt badly I couldn't move. He grabbed my arm and drug me away from the flames. Well, in the end we didn't make it. They were able to save me but not him. They should have left me with him. I lost everything but his loss was the worst. I am still recovering slowly. Still pretty sick. But, if I could, I would have you carve my Moosie. But since I can't I will pretend I could. Thank you so much for sharing a beautiful talent! A'HO
