Wow, such an easy tie and it looks so buggy. Another nice tying video, keep it up!

You are my favourite video fly tying instructor , I usually get a minimum of one or more super helpful tying tips. I sharpened up the butt of my Materelli whip finisher about ten years ago and find it a real time saver every time I sit down at my bench. 👍

Great looking tie, Tim. These non-typical patterns that incorporate few materials are something I appreciate. Thanks for sharing.

Sweet!! It's unbelievable how many applications the wood duck flank is used for.

Hey Tim, after fly fishing for over 10 years (I'm 18), i have found that especially in the KLG, a woven body stonefly in sizes 8-10 is deadly in the late spring and early summer. If you want the materials, talk go Jim and I'll be glad to show you this amazing pattern.

I do tie it slightly different than others to match the color morphs seen in the SBR.

Love your fly tying and especially natural-looking flies like the Wood Duck Nymph. Will tie a few up with substitute feathers as we don't have any Wood Ducks. Thanks from down-under in NZ

I tied a bunch of these and they work amazing up here in Oregon. I caught a handful of rainbows this evening. I was also blessed with the opportunity to harvest a couple wood ducks last season so I just so happen to have the flank feathers readily available. Thanks for the awesome pattern!

Tim, I am surprised you don't rip the feathers off at the head like you do for your tiny PTN, instead you use your scissors? Nice thread movements, I have studied a lot of tiers but the way you tie off the reverse ribbing material is unique to you. I am going to tie up a bunch to imitate our PMD nymph.

Great flight, Tim thanks. I have read that may fly nips, we may or near emergence will have dark colored Winkies birds. It might not hurt to hit the Winkies with a dark marker or a dark color nail polish.

Is the Woodduck stiffer than Mallard flank Feathers? Woodduck is so expensive, almost 1€/Feather so i try Mallard dyed Woodduck but i don't get a nice result...

I have wood duck flank from several different birds (my friend duck hunts) and the colors range from very pale tan (an off-white) to a fairly dark warm (yellowish) tan. Seems that (guessing here) that the darker flank feathers come from more mature (older) birds.

I'd also be interested in the Wood Duck Flank Feather used to tie this fly. I'd like Tim to comment on where to get this feather and some details on what to order.
