Not even half way through video I punched that subscribe button. What a beautiful tree. And your ability to use the tools the way you do,,,, not fair. You make it look easy. AND IT IS NOT. Wow amazing 👍
very cool...and your wife is correct, it is beautiful...thanks for sharing with those of us that need help to learn...and thanks to your wife for supporting you , it is a rare thing.
That tree "turned" out really nice! I'm jealous of your shop....a place for everything & everything in its place. Sure wish I could say the same for mine. Happy Holidays & thanks for sharing!
Thank you. My shop is 20x20 and I try hard to keep it clean. Believe it or not, dust makes me sick so I must keep it as clean as I can. And I am one of those people who has to have every in its place too. Thank you for your comments. Tommy
thanks, I have my first lathe... and I hope to compliment my shop of Santa carvings , with Christmas turnings. I have been carving for several years, and I think a lathe would be a nice way to add to my Christmas themed carvings. So I was excited to see what you came up with and your comments are warmly received. May the Lord Bless you Richly. Marvin From Texas..
That's very good and I might have to steal your idea. I got a good tip from a professional turner yesterday on how to get into that tight, acute, angle under the branches to clean up. He used a parting tool on it's side (on the flat) on the tool rest to cut into the angle with the very tip and it worked great. I tried it and got the same result. It has saved me fighting with gouges and skews. I'm off to try to find LED strings now. Thanks for a great video, got yourself another sub. Best Wishes, Brendan.
+BMac Woodturning Thank you Brendan, I got them fro Hobby Lobby in the doll house section. I had the little tree at my craft show I went to and it was the first thing I sold. Thanks for subscribing!
Very nice project Tommy! I have been turning my xmas trees one tier at a time from round. I like the way you did this by turning a basic cone shape and cutting in the tiers. I think it makes for a more consistent tree shape and the lights are a very nice addition. I bet the gk's will really enjoy it! Thanks for sharing and happy holidays! P.S. My wife thinks all my stuff is great to ;-)
+Rick Stonewood Arts Thanks Rick, Our wives will always love what we do if they love us. sounds like your wife love you too. I like doing the cone shape first, it helps me to do it that way. Thanks for the comment and for watching
Hi Tommy, Yorkshire is a beautiful place, you will be welcomed from the locals when you visit. I've just got my first lathe.... gulp! So I'll be watching RU-vid even more now... if that is possible lol. I've got my practice sorted, 350+ Christmas tree's for the local school children so this video will be very handy, thanks for sharing. Cheers Andy
Hi Tommy, I think I will be fed up of seeing Christmas tree's lol, last year I sliced apple branches and burnt Christmas trees, snowmen, snowflakes etc on to them. The children and teachers loved them. So I thought that if I tried to turn different designs of Christmas tree's it would give me the much needed practice, but now thinking about it lol... I might try some snowmen too. Cheers Andy
With all the wood turnings and sawdust, how do you keep everything so clean? Great tree idea-I am looking for ideas to get me started. Thank you for sharing your ideas. 👍👍🇦🇺
I'm late to the game Tommy. This is an awesome tree and I love the use of those micro LEDs. You can really bring a piece like this to life with those lights. Just subscribed to your channel. You do some very nice work. Jeff
Now that's a keepsake Tommy ! Your wife sounds like mine, only she would not let me sell or even give anything I made away . Yes , you guess it every room in the house is full . So at least yours will let you sell it .
Stan, she would keep them if I didn't just sell them. My house is full of other turning that she would kill me for selling. Thanks for the comment, Tommy
Hey did you hear the word?, Hyezmar is giving his set of woodworking plans on his website. If I'm not mistaken there’s an excellent alternative for this project!
