I'm at it again, this time working on the lathe making some legs for a dining table from Cherry wood. This wood was harvested in central Indiana, made into lumber on the WoodMizer, kiln dried, made into blanks, and will soon be supporting a lovely Cherry dining table.

I was looking at the angle that you use the tools and thought it was more of a grind than cuts - then I saw the unsanded smoothness so either I still have a whole lot to learn or misjudged the angle of the camera - maybe god forbid both :-) Great work and thank you for sharing

Great job, I enjoy your videos. I also like to turn, not as talented as you. I've never attempted table legs. I can turn a mean rolling pin!

About how long did it take you to turn each leg. Beautiful job and beautiful wood.👍👍

Disclaimer: I'm not a "fast" woodturner, especially when it comes to fine detail work and limited blanks to mess up. I averaged about 45 minutes start to finish.

@@southernindianasawmill1367 I would have figured a two to three hours. That is really nice work. I really do enjoy all your videos. 👍👍

How did you make them all the same? Did you take the measurements from the first one? How? What are the machine and tools called? Obviously I am new to woodworking 🙂

To repeat parts you follow the same process every time. How I made one leg is how I made all of them. If you are just starting out, RU-vid is a valuable resource for learning all about it. Knowledge is easy to obtain, the skill takes practice and time!

Where did you get that wood?
@southernindianasawmill1367
@southernindianasawmill1367 3 года назад
It was cut on my sawmill up near Columbus, IN. We had it kiln dried, and I made the blanks for the lathe.
