Doug I wish there were more wood carvers like you who explains how and what they are doing the only way for the younger generation of wood carvers to learn is by watching someone with patience and kinda laid back thanks again for the video's keep them coming Ronnie
If im not watching his camping videos im watching his wood craving i find it relaxing cuase im learning and douggie looks like a great guy to be around always positive attitude
Doug, you've revitalized my faith in myself carving figurines. Just yesterday i watched your penguin tutorial and made an owl. Today I followed this pumpkin vid abd i ended up with a pineapple lol. How? I'm not even sure myself. But, happy little accidents. Ended up painting the pineapple and made it into SpongeBobs home. Thanks for sharing these 👍🍻
Been watching your video for a while now. I've been carving for around 3 years doing faces, I want to thank you for helping me add the bodies. Thanks great videos
Oh great, now my wife wants me to carve a pumpkin, very cool. I like the way you display your carvings too. Thanks for the show and tell, you make it easy for a beginner like me.
Doug, these instructional videos of yours are great. I spend a few hours outside each day doing your carvings when I'm up at my cabin. It's basically how I'm learning to carve.
Remarkable talent Doug, an early sunday morning treat watching you carve that figure. You remind me of that bushy haired guy on PBS who taught us to paint. Great job on the carving, and the painting as well. Just like something you`d find in a store. Thank You for sharing your video, and your amazing talent. ATB
You have inspired me like crazy...I have watched all your intro to carving videos and now have made several of your little carvings!!! This pumpkin guy turned out so good for a beginner carver! I can’t thank you enough for your tutorials...i could not carve without them! I am looking forward to the day when I can carve on my own! I love your carvings...you are so super talented!!!!!
Great demonstration. Pumpkin with real character. Almost like the regular orange of it before / without the antiquing. Keep it up, do more demos please.
Hey Doug, another great job! I can’t tell you how grateful I am that I stumbled on your videos just a few months ago. I am addicted to both your videos and to carving. Still waiting for the “Native American” in real time but will do the other’s till your ready. My wife is shopping for a display case as I now have about 20+ pieces! Thank you Doug and keep them coming. Love the pumpkin by the way.
Hi Doug! I am new to your carving videos, and cannot get enough of them. The way you present everything is just incredible, you seem to really enjoy the work, and you make the hobby feel very accessible to someone who has never put blade to wood before! It’s the mark of a true artist to make something so beautiful feel like anyone could do it, and I wanted to commend you for it. You are truly an artist, and your art is absolutely wonderful - AND you definitely have me wanting to get my hands on some basswood and a knife! Keep up the great work, all the best! EDIT: I can’t believe my auto correct just changed your name on me. LOL! So if you saw that before I corrected it.....oops! Sorry about that. 🤦🏻♂️
Checked out Larry Green's Instagram and thought his christmas tree was adorable with that goofy side eye look. thank again Doug! Love your relaxing videos.
Hey Doug...I don’t comment very often but I’ve been watching your videos for some time now. I really enjoy them. You’re an inspiration. Keep up the good work!
Another great carving and video. These are so helpful to anyone learning to wood carve and also for someone carving for a while. Thank you Doug for posting all of these videos, I learn something with every video I view. Cheers
The eyes were more than worth the wait! I chuckled the whole time. Mouth was great too! With your sense of humor, can a hand grenade sequel be forming soon? I got my Basswood today. The layering of the depth always escaped me until I watched your videos. Good job, I’m a fan!
just did the follow-a-long on this today, what fun ! thanks ! I did your little man last week but doubled the size. Came out ok... I was using what I think was green sycamore and it was a challenge to carve.
Doug. Thank you so much for doing these videos. I really appreciate how you teach us to do these figures. You have an amazing talent and God bless you for sharing this. Your tutorials are easy to follow and "top notch". No pun intended! Keep up the great work and thank you again for showing us how to do it.
I would have never thought of the antiquing medium...it really makes it pop, and look like an heirloom passed down through the years at the same time! Nice idea.
I really enjoy your videos. I have recently got my first carving knife for Christmas and carved my first pumpkin. I got the Flexcut hip knife. This video was a great help and I hope to see more. Thanks again.
Thanks Doug. I do about 7 of an item each year for Christmas gifts and they are usually Christmas themed but this year it is the 'Doug Pumpkin'. Mine dont look as cool as yours but you gotta keep trying. Thanks again
Lol thanks Doug....I always enjoy your carving videos....I also like your camping, canoe / bushcraft stuff too but the lighter side of life things really add to your channel I think.
I love watching your videos, you have an extremely soothing voice. my son has a difficult time when it comes to bed time, after our usual bedtime routine of books and brushing teeth, he'll sit still long enough to fade away during your videos,,, entertaining for me and calming for him. I think I want to take up carving. ;)
When I paint on the eye lids, i use the same color that i used on the face, but i water it down a bit more to make it a little lighter. kind of gives a good effect. thanks for your videos!
I choke up on my knife like that and the banging on the table was driving me nuts. I sawed off the tip and rounded that tail. Now it works for me. Thanks for the tutorial. Doug keep on keeping on.
Thanks again Doug for all you do! I love the your videos as I can ALWAYS use some of your techniques on this video on other wood carvings!!! Fun and interesting carvings that I and my family loves, especially those that are 'holiday' appropriate, as they make great little gifts during the season!!! Keep up the great work and know that I and many others wait each week for your latest carving adventure!!! Safe carving and bushcrafting to you and yours Always!
Fantastic way to spend a cool Sunday morning. Thank You Doug for your videos! You make these look so simple. My first bear looked more like a pitbull but they’re getting there! Lol. Great work! Keep them coming!
What a great hobby. I gotta get some Flexcuts & a strop & some basswood. I do little pieces now but have never had basswood only pine scrap wood. I have some tagua nuts to carve too. Good stuff man. Keep it up.
Thank you a Doug what a great carving and paint job. I’m ordering some bass wood to try some myself for Halloween , thank you so very much, you are a great carver and teacher!👍👍
Love your videos with Joe Robinet, especially appreciate quiet fishing techniques. Looking forward to trying your wood carving, Thanks for the videos! P.S. appreciate your patience!
