We show you how we built a wooden tip-over jig, for our 71 Camaro RS restomod project car, as an alternative to purchasing a rotisserie. We built this wooden tip-over jig for under $150. This wooden tip-over jig should work for most f body cars. It can be modified and adapted to fit many other classic cars and projects.
Check out our website for the wooden tip over jig's measurements, materials, and cost. restocar.com/b...

Dan this is exactly what I have been looking for. I didn't want to spent over a grand on a rotisserie. I will absolutely be building one of these so that I can work on the bottom of my Camaro. Thanks.

I like it. I have a 79 that I have slowly been working over the last 20 years. One recommendation - pressure treated eats metal. It's the chemicals in the wood. I would put rubber sheet between the steel and the pressure treated. Personally, I would be more comfortable with (2) 2x4s over a 4x4. 4x4s are cut out of the middle of the tree and don't have the same load capacity as a 2x4. Either way though, good design and does the job. Thanks for the video.

Outstanding Dan. I was fortunate enough to gather enough steel to build my rotisserie with very minimal expense. I also have a good friend that is a machinist. Probably took me three weeks to finish the drawings and two to build it. What you have done is just as effective and looks great plus you can reuse the wood on later projects. 👍🇺🇸🤙😃

Thanks Ken, it sure beats working on your back, but I’m finding there are some positions where a full rotisserie would make things easier. I thought about adding plywood to the other side so I can flip it in either direction.

Great work on the Jig. I was going to copy it for my '70 but it's in a 1 car garage. No room to roll it up without smashing the roof of car on the garage wall. I don't dars to try to slide the thing & I dont feel casters are a smart idea. I'll figure something out.

I have that same question. I’m doing an 81 T/A (same body) and was curious of the total height? I guess you can locate the end closer to the car’s side and make it lower to the ground.

I am a new subscriber. This is just what I was looking for. Your videos are very well done and explained clearly. In your opinion, Dan, do you think this design would be able to handle it if we were to duplicate the curves on both the driver's and passenger side? That way, it would be able to tip over in both directions. I'm thinking it would, and editing in that change should be pretty straight forward. What is your opinion, Dan. Thanks.

Hi Dan...great video, thanks for posting. I want to do something similar for a 63 Studebaker hardtop, just the body, which is already off the frame.....not sure how or where to mount the rear? There are no bumper attachments there, the bumpers on this car mount to the frame. It's not a unibody. Maybe mount to a 4x4 bolted to the rear body mount holes? thanks...Joel

Awesome video Dan, I'll definitely subscribe. I'm working on a 79 Camaro and it needs a rear floor, torque boxes, and rear frame rails. Would this work for replacing the frame rails?
@RestoCar
@RestoCar 4 года назад
I’ve seen a lot of frame rail sections repaired on rotisseries, but not full frame rails. I’d build a chassis jig or even use jack stands on a level platform to replace the frame rails because the datum points are well documented for these cars.
