Woodland Mills Sawmill - What I Have Learned About Moisture Content In Lumber.
I have been trying to learn about the drying process of lumber a lot lately, and one of the things that go hand in hand with that is learning about moisture content in lumber.
This video concentrates a lot on the numbers and what you should be looking for as far as moisture content goes for certain projects and the difference between outdoor construction, indoor furniture making, etc.
I showcase a new tool that I have recently purchased, which is a moisture meter, and how that works, and how to use it to determine what stage of the drying process your lumber is at.
As Always
Thanks For Watching
Chris

i have order a woodland mill mh 30 max. the first thing i am going to do is build shed for saw and drying shed. i will be putting mill on cement slab that is 20 years old. if you get a lot of rain it will never dry out side we had some white pine that we left out side with out stickers and it rotted . i will need to get a moisture meter. thanks for the video. sawing with sandy is good too i have learned a lot from all of you on here. take care, stay well and safe.

Yes I also like Sandy he has a lot of great videos. I want to build a sawmill shed too, hopefully this fall/winter.

Good information Chris, one thing I do on hardwoods is run them through the planer while they are above 10% range, it seem to reduce tear out on the final planning at less then 10% moisture, but it doesn’t always work. I try to get the thickness to about a 1/16” so the last final pass is taking off just a very thin layer.
