A few things: ●There's a static sound at the start of this video, I don't know why and 5 renders with changes didn't change it. It's not there in the editing software, but is always in the rendered video. Hopefully that's not something that'll happen with every video. ●I'm aiming to have another video out this coming Sunday. I wanted to maintain a two week schedule for the whole of this year, and computer problems and life things got in the way, so I'm going to try and catch up. ●This is my first attempt at a Q&A video, I did it as simply as I could; it's probably not as good as I could do. I wanted for instance, to film me playing some new music as requested, but didn't get around to it.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video of yours Tom, as I always do, especially mixed with the beautiful terrain of woodland, river, streams and ice formations. Thank you.
"Introverts UNITE -- Separately" 😉 Good for you having strong boundaries, Tom. I LOVE the magical , glassy ice -- mesmerizing to me. Stunning, snowy mill vignettes, poetry, and just everything! I always love these lovely, calm, informational walks. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing as much about yourself as you were comfortable with. It really was quite a lot. I’m sorry if anyone asked inappropriate questions, humankind as a whole is quite nosy. I really enjoyed your video, the sights and sounds were breathtaking. I didn’t realize that you are a musician along with all of your other many talents. I would most definitely be a follower of the new channel you proposed. You are a gift to all of us who follow you!
Thanks Hazel. I don't think any of the questions were really inappropriate, I left it wide open when I made the post. I didn't tackle all the requests, or questions, and probably won't answer a few even if I do another Q&A video sometime. Might film some guitar music though, I wanted to for this one. 🙂
I loved that walk, especially the stalactites of ice contrasting with the frozen bubble shapes. Thanks for another beautiful meander through your local scenery Tom
Hi Tom, This was an excellent video. Thank you for being so gracious by answering questions about yourself. I particularly appreciate your thoughts on introversion, your self awareness and steadfast commitment to maintain positive mental and physical health. It is inspiring and thought provoking for me.
Thanks Mary. 🙂 I don't think there's many actual young people watching though, only about 0.8% of the lifetime audience of my channel is below 24 years old. (0% in the last 30 days). Of course, that's just the people logged in, but I don't think I'm much of a youth influencer 🙂
Wonderful Q & A video, beautiful bubbly icicles, winter scenery, plus we got to know more about you to appreciate. It would be great to see you do another one. And if you ever did a reading of Dracula, Frankenstein, or Poe, you'd have a huge audience! You have so many wonderful ideas, and please give us a heads up when you read Gail's story from Northern Mudlarks. Cheers Tom!
That wasn’t a simple walk Tom it was stunning ! What a beautiful part of the world you live in . Loved the questions and answers . I’d actually forgot that we hadn’t seen your face on video because getting snippets of your likes and dislikes and odd chat of your hobbies and girlfriend it like we know you already .. a good person and the worlds better for having you in it . X
Thanks Judy. I was fortunate to grow up living on the edge of this woodland, and I've walked every pathway (and off path) many times. I'm glad you enjoyed the questions and answers. I'm currently feeling inclined to maybe do another one in about a year. And also perhaps one where I answer every question with as silly an answer as I can think up. 🙂
Thanks so much for answering my questions Tom. It was lovely to enjoy this beautiful scenic walk while getting to know a bit more about the man behind the camera. You certainly have an impressive range of education, hobbies, and knowledge!
Thanks for asking the questions. I don't think I remember much of my education, I've rarely used qualifications after getting them, and the knowledge fades. Does come back when I find something that triggers a memory though. 🙂
I totally loved this video Tom, thanks so much, and I would really enjoy seeing another. The walk with the scenery was really beautiful. Sometimes information about the surroundings makes me concentrate on that, and I don't seem to gain as many benefits from just taking in the views and just enjoying them for what they are. Your questions and answers was like taking a walk with a new friend, and I really had a nice time!
Thank you for sharing your life and love of walking in the forest and rivers and streams and countrysides. Keep your privacy for you and your lovely girlfriend. It’s important. I respect that. Keep your home and grounds where you live sacred too. Otherwise the people will deplete it without hesitation. I’m sorry but that’s truly just how it is. Keep your amazing self to yourself. I’m just great full I get to come along on your soothing adventures. Please only share what you can. I’m happy with it. Greetings from Seattle, Washington 🇺🇸
Just wonderful walking with you Tom, through that beautiful part of the world. Those pictures of the frozen water on the plants were breathtaking, such clarity as were those magical sunsets and the evening pictures of the fading light. This ranks as one of your best videos Tom, the Q and A concept was a treat.Thank you for revealing some of yourself, love your approach to life. Sue and I (Ian) also enjoy our hermit like lifestyle and, other than seeing family, like to keep to ourselves.
Thanks Sue and Ian, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I wasn't sure of it, even up to the moment of upload, but enough people have enjoyed it to make me think it was successful. 🙂I hope you're both keeping well.
I’ve enjoyed your walk along this icy river so much that I feel like I was there beside you, though heaven knows I’d never actually be out there risking a fall. So thanks for showing me the beautiful frozen scenery. It is so very clear in your videos how private you are that I could not dare ask a question, but I do appreciate the ones you answered. When the question came up about the possibility of your doing readings, I immediately thought works like those of Edgar Allen Poe might be a perfect vehicle for your distinctive voice. I hope you get that channel going soon!
Thanks Kathy. I don't mind any questions, but of course reserve the right to not answer. I'm glad you enjoyed the walk, and hope you enjoyed the Questions and answers and other talking too. 🙂
Thank you for choosing my question as one that was answered here. I certainly received a more complete answer than I bargained upon! Though, thinking upon it, your answer is a perfect illustration of yourself; a complex and renaissance type individual. Thanks for sharing this gorgeous winter walk. I especially loved the ice encased waterside greenery.
Alas, I don't think my music really suits any of the poems I'm trying to record. Maybe in the future, but until then I'll have to rely on other people for the music.
Good hearing you again. Was hoping everybody were well. A different, but pleasant video as always. Thank you for your video today, and see you on the next. Cheers Tom! ❤😊
As always Tom a lovely video and a lovely Q&A from yourself, definitely keep your privacy that's you and your girlfriends abode so not for the eyes of anyone else other than yourselves and your families, must say a great little oration of a poem mate . This time of year can be so lovely for a walk and with the snow scattered around and a cute little Robin on a bench you have bought this beauty in to our homes and a big thank you for that take care and till your next video
Thanks Paul. Was a bit worried about the poem to be honest, have had the first bit of that epic mad poem rolling around in my head for years, and never attempted it to anyone before. It is indeed a lovely time of year for walks... snow again today, so maybe another walk in the woods tomorrow. 🙂
As always, it's such a pleasure to hear your voice and participate in you wanderings. My health does not allow me the joy of walking without aids. And the pain in my legs is increasing. So being able to join you on these trips and walks is a joy to me. I feel like I am right there. Thank you.
So sorry the pain is increasing Mary. I hope you have some pain free times. I'm glad my videos can provide a bit of an escape, but I'd prefer you to be healthy and able to walk painfree.
@@tomburleigh9261 Thank you. But at my age and as a cancer patient, the nerve damage and pain is my new normal. But don't fret for me. I have you and several other RU-vidrs I lovingly follow that keep me up and happy. I truly enjoyed this video with the questions and answers!
I love it when you take us on walks. Thank you! Stories, poetry, music, answers, even a bit of silence as you walk and allow us to hear your surroundings are wonderful. Again, thank you!
A lovely walk Tom, Thank you. I liked the ice, even though I am sitting here fully clothed in my bed with an additional jumper wrapped around my head 🥶 brrrr
That was lovely, Tom. Having become mostly a hermit myself, I applaud your bravery in putting out this Q & A video. Nothing gets a stronger visceral reaction from me than strangers wanting to know things about me. That's a 180 degree change from my younger years, when I had the need to be seen and validated. I learned the hard way not to desire such attention. I like what I know about you, and what I don't know is none of my business. 😂😜 I do believe that you're going to have to live forever in order to get to all the things you want to do. 🤣🤣 Nevermind. If it gets you up each day, that's good enough. 🤗 I loved seeing all the ice sculptures, and the beautiful scenery. At times I forgot to listen, and had to rewind. Shame on me, eh? 🤣🤣 I continue to wish you all the best that Life has to offer. See you next time. 😁👍
Thanks Noralee, I agree... going to have to live forever to get everything I want to do done, and who wants to live forever? Not me. I'll get some of it done, and hopefully have fun along the way. I hope you're OK as a hermit, not missing social things too much. I'm a natural hermit, and it's a fight to do social things enough that I don't go a bit weird. 🙂 I wish you all the best that life has to offer too.
You work hard to put out the best videos you can. I think you are ashy and private person, and I totally understand how important it is to keep it that way!🙂 Just keep doing what you do Tom ❤👍 Canada's side of Niagra Falls is quiet beautiful... I hope you get to do a bit of Larking there!!! I live a few hours north of the Falls.
It always amazes me, that the mosses and plants can be entirely encased in ice for weeks, and yet be healthy when it melts. And yes, beautiful as well as amazing. 🙂
I never get tired of seeing the beautiful landscapes of your country. The ice sculptures handing from trees and rock are so lovely. The frozen clear water sculptures are just breathtaking. Thank you so much for sharing your magnificent country. Congratulations on creating the soothing music, I wasn't aware that you had written and performed some of the music. 🐕🥰🇺🇸
Hi Tom. That was fantastic for everyone who appreciates life. I must admit I hope as a individual you don't injure your self. And may the force be with you. From Steven of South Elmsall/ now living in pontefract west Yorkshire.
Thanks Steven. I hope I don't injure myself too, I don't very often (apart from thorn scratches). Haven't been to Pontefract in ages, I remember wandering round the castle. It was a nice town to visit, 20 years ago... hope it's still nice. And may the Force be with you too 🙂
Oh I love the ice at the beginning! it looks almost exactly like the ice forming in a mini, temporary waterfall near here, that slowly form extraordinary transparent globules in autumn, before the snow. Now I paused your video. I will listen, but I hesitated, knowing you like to keep things private. I salute your courage, and hope nothing ended up being creepy. If it did, I hope you have a joyful time ignoring invasive stuff totally.
Thanks Lise. None of the questions were too creepy, some brought a little sadness but overall it was a nice walk, and I didn't mind answering most of the questions. 🙂
Thanks Tom for a beautiful and enchanting video. Glad you will remain anonymous and mysterious, your videos, voice and poetry are all that’s required, at least by me. Thanks again.
I'm not a fan of poetry because it's often read in such a Dr Seuss type rhythm. When you read it, I'm absolutely blown away. You made me enjoy and appreciate poetry
Thank you Tom for answering my question and your pronunciation was spot on. I really enjoyed the scenery on the video as our winter is still in full force with minus 28 and the river is frozen still. The sound of the running water beutiful streams is a great comfort to me.
Thank you for yet another lovely and enjoyable video, I always look forward to watching you . I was only thinking about you the other day, and how I hadn’t seen any recent uploads. Anyway, Always a thumbs up for you Tom❤
Thanks Kim, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Back to Mudlarking videos next, the next one hopefully up this weekend (trying to catch up on the overlong gap). 🙂
Yes... I want to make a stained glass chandelier for some friends (in the shape of an octopus). My oldest friend is a stained glass artist (amongst other things), and he's said he'd be happy to help and guide me through it. 🙂
Thanks TermaTreasure, I love the ice close up too. It's snowed again here, so I'll be off for a walk in the woods hoping to see more natural ice sculptures tomorrow. 🙂
Dearest Tom, the Mystery Man ... we do not know what you look like nor do I think it important🦉 we did come close once with your visitors Fleur & Kate 🤔 I so respect the "Intervert" situation, I'm a hermit SzPD always the observer🦫 your calming voice & video's is why I enjoy you! your interactions with other larkers, who are All my favorites as well! peace & luv to All
What a lovely walk. Thank you for sharing it. I enjoyed the Q and A. It was nice, I missed the request for questions, I hope you don't mind if I szk my question here: Which do you prefer, tea or coffee? LOL. Hope you and your girlfriend are managing to stay warm.
Thanks Jackie, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I prefer tea, though I don't drink it often. I cook with it far more often than I drink it; I've concocted a pasta dish that it works wonderfully well in. 🙂
@Tom Burleigh that sounds wonderful. Would you consider sharing it? I prefer coffee, but I limit myself to only 2 cups in the morning. Otherwise, I won't be able to get to sleep at night.
Sure, I gently fry a chopped large shallot in vegetable oil, add water, lots of Nutritional Yeast, a cup of White tea, a small pinch of Rose petals, some vegan bouillon (or salt), Tarragon, Marjoram, a bit of nutmeg, a few cloves of garlic crushed and finely chopped, a small splash of lemon juice, and either a spoonful of Tahini or Houmous. Mix in a small can of Broad Beans, and either some Artichoke hearts cut into cm chunks, or some Heart of Palm similarly cut. And serve stirred into a nice bronze-cut pasta. I don't know for sure that you'll like it, but everyone I've made it for so far has (about 4 other people). It's at it's best served right away, and changes if left overnight, I think the tannins in the tea take over.
Thanks Tom for another lovely video, any time I can listen to you, your music and the sound of water along with the beautiful scenery you always show makes me a very happy viewer.
@@tomburleigh9261 please let us see it when you’re finished! I want to cover a bird house with pottery. I decoupage bird houses now and decorate with my handmade fabric flowers. But the pottery pieces are calling to me!
Hi Tom where you live looks so Picturesque it looks like a Christmas Card I Love your Videos the Music is Beautiful the Scenery is Gorgeous and your Voice is so calming
it would be cool if you put notes in the bottles you leave behind in abandoned buildings for the other explorers. I know i'd love it if I came across something like that
Thanks Tom, I was beginning to miss you. First time I've heard you read poetry, an episode reading the poem in its entirety would be fab, I can't wait to hear it :). Almost Friday, I hope you have a lovely weekend.
Thanks Rachel. I have a further 3 poetry reading videos up: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-G11iiKkt89E.html The Rime of the Ancient Mariner is one I've been hoping to do since the early days of the Pandemic, and may be another few years before I finally get it done. In the meantime, I'm making progress on another few short poem videos, and hope to have one up soon(ish). I hope you have a lovely weekend too. 🙂
*Kia ora Tom, Wow it's your own music, it truly is beautiful. I sometimes feel that you had wished that you were born in a earlier era... just from your conversations with us, about your interests in much earlier times. I thoroughly enjoyed this video of the beautiful scenery covered in snow... and just hearing your soothing voice. Please keep on being you.... but also slowly step outside your inner feelings of not being around people. Yep that takes time... but one step in front of the other & one day at a time. We all have inner demons/issues to cope with... Yes if people should meet you & then only talk to you as they would a friend & not be all gushing etc. I am shy, but I can mix with politicians or even people on the street when I need to. I take photos so I can make myself 'invisible' and hide behind my lens... so I really do get what you feel. Kia kaha (stay strong) and be well & be safe.*
I enjoy the walking and scenery in your videos. It reminds me of tge bluffs around La Crosse, Wisconsin where I grew up. We hike a lot back then. So thank you.
Tom, I enjoyed this video very much,. IN regard to your shyness, please don't let your public nervousness, become excessive. Many public figures, including actors and car salesmen( well perhaps not THEM), have been able to channel their introversion toward public pursuits. I would be sad to see a news article about the passing of a certain Tom, The Hermit found in a dwelling ,stacked to the ceiling with detritus:) Of course not, this is your public outlet. LOL Sorry for the macabre thoughts, you ,after all, have people around you ,including a girlfriend. One must respect privacy more and more since we now have less and less. Cheers, Rik Spector
What a fantastic walk! I live in Brighouse, so I’ll go to Gibsons Mill with my dogs and have an explore! Thank you! And Thank you for a wonderful video.. You shared a lot which was wonderful… x
A very chilly but scenic walk today Tom. The views on your walks are much prettier than my daily jaunts but then again I am in the suburbs of a large city. Thank you for sharing a little more of your self with us. Make sure you take lots of Vit D3 if you avoid the sun.
Thanks Sue. I don't fully avoid the sun, and try to let my skin soak in sunlight when I can. Glad you enjoyed the scenery, I'm indeed fortunate to live in easy distance of a fair number of gorgeous places to walk. 🙂
This idea worked well. I enjoyed the questions and answers. The scenery is amazing. I spend my time in my hospital bed in my bedroom on my own. I have only 1 friend! I try singing along with your music. I hope you don't mind. Thank you for your time and brilliance.
Thanks Amanda. I'm sorry I haven't answered more of your comments, I've been quite introverted for the last few weeks, severely lacking in social energies. But I still read every comment, and greatly appreciate them. I'm sad that you're bed ridden, it's something that my mum went through for the last few years of her life, and it was hard to be a carer and see how hard it was for her. I'm glad that the content I make now can be an escape for people in the same situation. Of course I don't mind you trying to sing along with the music, I like the idea that you do. It's not something I can do (I've tried), they're in keys that my voice doesn't do well. 🙂
I enjoyed the walk even on a wintry day. It had a different, continuous flow that we don't see when you are mudlarking. I thought your answers were interesting, and I liked that you didn't agonize (at least not to us) on what you were prepared to answer and what you weren't. I hope spring comes to your world soon, because it is still a way off here in northern Alberta.
Thanks Elizabeth, I'm glad you enjoyed it. And yes, I've tried to get continuous flow into a few of my videos, travelling up streams, or down river banks... but this one did feel different. Spring has sprung her several times already, and it's back to snow today... about 4 inches so far, the poor trees and plants will be very confused.
Your music has always been immensely enjoyable and I suspected it was your compositions and instrumentals. Is it available for purchase/download anywhere? The Q&A was well done and the scenery was somber, quiet, and beautiful. As someone who can’t physically hike you have given me a way to get “out there” and renew my spirit. Thank you Tom.
Thank you for answering my question. I would love to see your video of kayaking on the loch in Scotland. My aunt Dorothy lived near Loch Ness for six months in the 1960s. Her cottage was haunted as were many of our family homes. In searching for my notebooks for a witty few lines I found G. I. Gurdjieff’s book “Meetings With Remarkable Men “. My next quest is to finish reading it. Like you I studied the arts and eastern philosophy only to end up amazed by the creeks and rivers flowing down the hill where I live. To see the view you capture on a loch would be lovely. Again, thank you.
Thanks for asking the question. That video is the last video before this one, filmed on Lochindorb on the Dava Moor, Morayshire. It's a very tumbled down old ruin, and though there was a lot of dark parts in it's inhabited period, it didn't feel haunted. 🙂
What a calming walk and video! It is good to know more about you and your views. Listening to your answers and the questions you said you hadn't had much success in melting metals into sculpture and I wondered why? I was curious if you have tried sandcasting? I would love to try making a frozen charlotte mold from hand casting then turning that into a wax Mould, then doing a sand cast making metal frozen charlottes for necklaces n such. I think it would be cool. I find a lot of copper and aluminum in the city , the only thing I don't have is a smelter or rather a small forge, perhaps one day I will. Beautiful video and I think it would be nice to hear your voice in a book reading. :)
Yes, it's snowed again here today, so I'm looking forward to another walk in the woods. I think I prefer it in Autumn colors, but I do love the variety. 🙂
@@tomburleigh9261 I have my own woods and today they look so bleak and austere but buds are on the branches once this bad weather has passed all will be good,
Looks like y’all had a very cold winter, too. I’m in central Florida and we too, had a very cold first of part of winter. Around Christmas we had twenties degree weather, which we haven’t had that cold for around thirty years…brrr🥶. Have a good day, Tom. ✌🏼❤️
Thanks Lisa, hope you're having a good day too. It regularly gets down that low here in Winter, so this one isn't considered a particularly cold one here. Snow today, about 4 inches of it... which is insulating the house nicely for the moment and a bit of a blizzard outside was nice for filming a round up. 🙂
Sadly, I too missed your shout-out about submitting questions, but I look forward to catching the next one. This was a magical treat. I love the beauty of the U. K. and am hopeful to travel there before I get too old. I would like to do some mudlarking and see the Crown Jewels. I want to have tea at a country estate and MAYBE ride the London Eye.
Thanks Zipto Zapto. The original short video I did was here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8rglELJHXdM.html and I did go back into my files and created a new Shorts video here: ru-vid.comEdqmy95u1mc 🙂
Hi Tom, its been a long time since i last wrote. I love the icicles, they look like crystal on chanteliers which we dont see at all in my part of the world. Tamny🌻
Hi Tammy, it's been a long time since I last released a video (6 weeks). It's been snowing again here, so I'll be out looking at the icicles again soon. Might try and take a few photos for Instagram. 🙂
