I'm excited to find out if you can overlap holes with this. Someone told me that it wasn't doable with the shaver style blades. If it works I will be buying one of these bits right away so please let us know.
@@grilling1012 my pleasure. Apparently a common issue with these is blades breaking, but you can get the better blades that fit direct from Eskimo or mora I believe. Or buy the pistol bit
Good review. Blade replacement? I think they are all good, better than gas augers in terms of weight, dealing with gas and having to pull the cord tons of times potentially. I have the kdrill, I recommend the Eskimo but this is a value player but with great features.
This uses a traditional Lazer auger shaver style blade, typically found in all fishing stores, so fairly easy to find! I think all the drill style augers work well. This one definitely weighs more than the others but I think it's well justified for the features it provides!
nice vid man, saw it on LSO, came to show support for our local peeps. I think general consensus for drilling overlapping holes is that it will damage and wear out blades quicker right? curious to test it on the eskimo pistol bit as it uses similar blades and has same centering point as this Woods auger. would be nice if you can include a test in your future video, cheers
Thanks so much for the support! I had a hand auger before and overlapping holes didn't really work too well. I believe the chipper blades work better, however I think the centre point will help a ton. ultimately we will wait and see! I'm going to do an on-ice test and after-use thoughts on what I like, and any improvements/changes I would make
I would assume one of those three brands owns the design and sold it to the other two, or all three companies purchased the design from a separate business because they all look pretty similar!
Was wondering if you would be able to measure it fully extended for me please. Was wondering if it would be long enough to use in my shack. Again thank you
Great review! Any idea if I can use this with my 18V Milwaukee drill that has a 1/4" chuck? Can I just use a 1/4 to 1/2" adaptor? Wasn't sure if it would all fit properly when combined with the side pieces. Thanks!
I see that they sell the woods handle/adapter system by itself. Are you able to tell me the diameter of the output shaft? I'm hoping it is 0.72" to fit into my Mora/Strikemaster auger.
Bought this auger a couple weeks ago and love it.But broke a blade. The only blades i can find are the serrated ones and they are not good. Would love to have the originals but cant find them anywhere.
I do believe the Mora or Eskimo shaver blades will work on this i broke 2 blades already on mine from Woods got 2 new units and will be trying the Mora Blades on there as they are very sharp and of good quality.
@@1300nessie I bought a set of Mora Blades (Strikemaster as mora makes theirs) they fit and are a tiny bit thicker i will give it ago at the lake tomorrow.
So for anyone that wants to know the Mora shaver blades/ Strikemaster blades made in Sweden work great for this auger. They are about 1mm thicker and come with 2mm longer bolt. The holes align and fit great. The Mora blades actually cut faster and better than the factory blades on this auger.
