I was going to say that some thing. It hurt a little watching that first cut. The cup is beautiful, but the original block of wood was equally so. I'll take the paper weight.

@@jaredwonnacott9732 Yes such a huge waste of material as well. Kind of stupid it cost that much though too, but I guess it is very cool.

Thanks Jack for another masterpiece. Very beautiful. I shudder a bit every time I see you using the band saw or table saw with those gloves on though. As an ex cabinetmaker, we never ever allowed our employees to wear any kind of glove around machinery. My Dad actually lost two fingers while operating a table saw with gloves on. The glove caught the blade and pulled his hand in.
@jb9347
@jb9347 2 месяца назад
Fear not! They're nitrile gloves: skin tight, so next to no chance of catching and as strong in tension as you'd expect a 0.3mm thick elastic band to be, if they ever did.
@LuckyTown77

Wore them 30 years as a mechanic and machinist. Cloth gloves may be a bad idea.

I do have an idea for the cut off. Hollow out more to shape u want, fill cavity with foam, keeping flat sides. It will be easy to dig out. Make form for epoxy pour. Would make a beautiful flat sided vase. (some sanding required) Hate to see that go to waste. I do some wood carving by hand, and tend to look for abstract or odd shapes 😃 Thank you for your videos. Work is inspiring, drooling over that wood.
