Another great piece. I love how you give us the little tidbits at the end for why you do a particular step, such as the inlay on this box. Thanks again for sharing with us.
The Box Master. I had some woodturning friends here last week and showed them the box you made me out of Yew. The lid still fits beautifully, with a little click, and it hasn't moved at all. The humidity here (about 16%-ish) must be near to your's because I expected the wood to move pretty soon after I got the box but it hasn't and that must be about six years now. Anyway, you got lots of praise and set the guys a challenge. Best Wishes, Brendan.
After years of watching this I only noticed now how the groove for the gems was at a more upward angle than the angle just going outwards toward the side.
This video was the number 1 feeder to my YT channel. So I came to check it out. Hopefully people won't be dissappointed going from your lidded box to mine! Beautiful work!
Hello! You have a very beautiful product, acacia is a very solid wood and is well polished. Acacia is also growing in our area, but the texture is quite different from yours. Thank you for the video.
I also enjoy making boxes so I really enjoyed this one. Nice touch with the inlay! Never hesitate to do videos of things you have done before. Your content is always a treat and you are one of the few channels I have notifications turned on-- my highest compliment.
Lovely work bud. Got to say, I'm still in need of a lot more practise to get my lids to fit so consistently! :D One of these days I should really take a class or something.
Carl I have a serious problem. I cannot stop watching this video. The shape of the box. Especially the part where you hollow out with the easy wood hollowers. We need more shots like that for folks like me with a lathe I can’t change our the tail stock on cause it’s super cheap.
Carl Jacobson I can remove the tailstock. But can it replace the end to a different type of live Center. I just have a bench top lathe I bought for $100 bucks ten years ago. Not sure what the American equivalent of Canadian Tire would be but all of their stuff is cheap.
Good video with lots of show and tell (oops-no tell) tips. If you watch you get to see how to do things that make making great projects like lidded boxes a lot easier. As for the Easy Wood Tools they are great, but I’m still struggling to learn the traditional woodturning tools to expand my capabilities. BTW. Is the wood dry or green/wet? Thanks. Cheers, Tom
Carl, you guys are an inspiration! I ran across you from the Stone Coat Ctop RU-vid. I'm a former GC turned Real Estate and bring a lot of knowledge (I feel that really doesn't exist with most agents) over with me and would like to start a channel. I'm a quick study so complexity is not an issue but wanted to know what program you use to edit your videos if you wouldn't mind sharing that info. Keep up the great work. Looks Great!!!
Carl Jacobson so I’m finally going to get a new lathe it’s a big lathe I want to make big bowls and maybe even table tops looking for a good chucks and I know you use the easy wood chuck but after the lathe I don’t have the money for that chuck and then having to buy the different jaws do you have any recommendations on a chuck that won’t break the bank after jaws to I raise 3 kids by myself and can’t take away from them need help lol
