Beautiful, simple and elegant Martin. I love it! I also want to give you props on your turning skills. It was nice watching how easy you made it look. I would have never thought to put a tenon inside a rough turned bowl. And now after seeing it, it's like a Duh! moment. Very slick... Thanks, V

@@MartinWoodhead how long have you been using your Axminster lathe and would you recommend? I have a wee Axminster Hobby but ready to get something that can cope with bigger stuff!
@MartinWoodhead
@MartinWoodhead 3 года назад
@@PBUCKY1969 I have had it about two years, and would say it's good value for a 3HP lathe and you could do a lot worse. I'm sure you've read the glowing revues on the Axminster website. Would I recommend it? yes if you're not wanting to turn a lot of big stuff, it struggles with large out of balance pieces, by large I mean over 20". There's no shortage of power it's just too light. Otherwise I would say it's a good value and versatile lathe with the emphasis on value the old adage you get what you pay for comes to mind. If it were me and cost was not an issue I would go for something a lot heavier.

Very nice Martin. That is the fist time I have seen some one leave a tenon on the inside of a bowl before drying. I'm guessing that this extra thickness does not cause a problem in drying. Do you reduce the thickness of the piece in the bottom to accommodate the two tenons?
@MartinWoodhead
@MartinWoodhead 3 года назад
I don't spend a lot of time thinking about this stuff. Just try to keep a fairly consistent thickness. Thanks for watching! 😊

Hi, new here! Loving your work but I'm simply stumped; what is that bowl gouge made of? I've never seen one that looked like it was brass, so I'm wondering if it's a titanium alloy or something?
