Woodturning - Green Crotch Bowl (I should have stayed in bed)

This DID NOT go to plan! There are days when you feel like turning a bowl, and really you should have stayed in bed. This was the first green bowl I've turned. I decided to once turn it as I want to see the warp in all its glory.

One of the nice things about being a retired hobbyist is that when things are not going well, one can stop the lathe, turn off the lights and walk away. Perhaps, go have a pint, and come back later. It’s amazing how well things can go later.

It's all in the fun I've messed up a a lot of turns myself but as long as you can save something it's all worth it and you're right don't try to hide it I edited out some mistakes but not all LOL keep on turning cereal bowl looks great👍👍👍👍

I personally prefer the warts and all videos makes it much more real I also like wood turning to golf the same good and bad days happen using the same tools even on the same course

Nice video. And I still like the bowl. At the moment I am turning a lot of green beech wood. But I choose the two-step method. So I let them dry in there own wood shavings. How did your bowl fare? Have there been many cracks in it? I have to wait quite a few weeks or months to see if I have chosen the right method.

it's stayed in once piece so far! no cracks at all. I think I managed to get it thin enough and its worked out. its warped a lot, but I like that as it feels more natural. :)

Hm think I went to about 6mm. The thinner the better
