Thank you all so much for watching! Because of you, we just hit 50k subscribers!!!!! Wow!!!!!!
This is my 28th filmed project, and also my first project on the new lathe! I have been drooling over the Robust American Beauty since I first started watching Carl Jacobson's videos, and I am so thankful to be able to have one. Without your support and dedication to my channel, it would not have been possible. So... Thank You!
Is it just me or did this chunk of ash turn out looking like Pacman?!?!?!
THANKS to Starbond you can now get 15% off all Starbond products with the promo code ADAMSEN15: www.starbond.com/?rfsn=347467...
If you haven't heard of Brad from RU-vid channels, Brad's Workbench and Rated R Woodturning, you should check him out! (Links to his channels below and in the video end screen.) Brad asked me to try out 2 new finishing compounds he has been working on, one a fine abrasive paste and the other a tung wax finish. Check out the links to his Etsy store, where he sells them!

As any woodturner develops his/her craft, one learns that the wood dictates the art. This is probably the finest example of this. You saw the absolute beauty of the piece and did as the wood directed you. Only a true craftsman can accomplish this. Thank you for sharing your talents and skills with us. A magnificent piece!!!

I’m normally not a fan of ash for turning, but this is amazingly well done, and very warm toned with your finish. After the tung wax the sheen level looked really great. Not plasticky like some finishes, but just right. Great job!!

Once again I scratch my head at how you “see” the possibilities out of a hunk of a tree before you begin. Another great piece of art. Cheers!

Your art is never “exceptionally mediocre” great shirt. But seriously, DAAAAAAAMMMMN DAVID!!! I always love seeing your visions come to life. I enjoy watching and slowly seeing what you envisioned and saw in the chunks of wood that no one else sees when they see a tree stump. I’m too basic and although an artist in a way, I have always envied TRULY CREATIVE MINDS.

For the past few months I cannot drive by the different woods near my home without glancing at fallen trees and broken bits of trunks and branches without imagining what could be done with them with the right tools and talent- seeing this video has moved me closer to being able to imagine those possibilities more clearly. I am an artist working in drawing and painting and there is always a little voice speaking to me in various inspirations 'try this' and I have learned over time to actually listen and give those things a try and my life has never been the same. I watch you (and by the way the video production of this is excellent) and that voice begins to speak again. Love what you are able to do. Maybe someday I shall take a class in woodturning and see what I am capable of in this arena. Continued good luck and success to you in your own art.

I had a Jet lathe similar to the one that appears at the start of this video, and I also outgrew it, fast! I replaced it with a Powermatic 3520B, which was much, MUCH better! I turn mostly hollow forms (through a small opening, down to about an inch, which is small on a 12" HF). I COULD use an even bigger lathe, but I do believe in limitations. This will probably be my last lathe, though I could still use a nice hefty VicMarc chuck...
