No it didn’t split. The greenness of a piece of wood is not the deciding factor in it all splitting. Pre existing defects and uneven wall thickness will cause cracks
I think the wood is either beech or elm, you were lucky not to destroy this lovely piece. Definitely on the edge for a soft wood. But well done anyway.
There was a thinner point towards the bottom. It not a difference of less than 1mm but it shows in the light given that the wall thickness throughout is only 2mm
