I am a single mother of 3 boys. My Dad taught me heaps of woodwork, and now I am teaching my boys. They love it. Not only are they learning a new skill, but they are also spending time with their brothers they are spending time with me. It gives them great memories as well. These are amazing, and now the boys want to do some of these. Thank you for sharing. We just came across your channel. We live in Queensland, Australia
If you invited me into your shop today and told me I could take one finished piece of work home for free, I would go home empty handed because there is no way I could choose! Your craft is beyond compare and you are truly a master. Anyone would be so lucky to own one of your pieces!
When I was a young boy my grand father had a shop in the woods near his home. He had a crud wood lathe where he did some wood turning. Nothing as elaborate as is being done here. He made a lamp and I ended up with it and although it is quit plane I cherish owning it only because my grand father made it. Watching this man make his craft reminds me of my grad father. I’m 77 now and my grand father has long since passed. I miss him but I cherish my lamp.
Thank you for sharing this James. It’s touching to hear and it speaks to the importance the object can hold besides an aesthetic value or practical use. I adore comments like this. I make may two little boys things I hope with all my heart that I can make something with their children one day too. Your comment made my day. Thank you.
@@JackMackWoodturning there is quite a setting in my mind with the little boy watching the old man for what seemed like many hours doing his work. The old man’s every move is filed away in a place in the little boys head and in his heart. They’re not speaking but they’re communicating none the-less. The teacher and the student. The old man is proud of what the little boy is becoming.
I've been watching Jim Sprague in Petawawa, Canada for over a year now. He does tree burls in colored Epoxy. I happened upon your channel and all I can say is, what a talented man you are. This is the 2nd video of yours I';ve watched and your work is amazing. Greeting from Western Massachusetts, USA
I absolutely love these videos I find them not only extremely relaxing but find myself wanting to get these tools and do this myself as a hobby. We learnt how to make stuff with all these tools in wood class in school but now I wish I'd chosen it as one of my gcse subjects. The art of joinery and making art out of not just wood but wood and resin combos is just out of this world. If only I'd known when I was younger that I'd grow up to love this stuff full time but actually be able to make a job out of it. Growing up your discouraged from silly job careers as our teachers told us and focus on being something more realistic like a teacher or a nurse
@@JackMackWoodturning Love the colorful bowl that had a lot of black background with green& red& blue & purple & so on stripes. From the papers you used. Pretty!
@@JackMackWoodturning I'm in Killeen Texas, U.S.A. I was wondering why you were up in the wee hours too.lol At my age I guess I don't need a lot of sleep any more. I stay up all night a lot.
Now that one with the looks like a honeycomb pattern pattern pattern looks really cool. I like that I like all the others, but I really really like that.❤❤❤😊
Loved rewatching these vids. My favourite still remains the pencil lamp and the oval egg. But all your work is unique and I would always choose to watch these vids over other wood turning channels. You are the best!
You Woodturners blow my mind! You take a hunk of wood put it on a lathe and Pronto, a work of art!!! I am amazed by all of you. I must admit I do prefer the ones that give narrative while they are working. It is much more interesting! Never the less thank you for a most entertaining part of the day!!
Do you have an idea of what the piece you are working will turn out before it's finished? I watch in awe just to see the amazing results. Always beautiful!
Wish I was there to look at them 1st hand. They all look really nice! You seem to have a gift for tweaking handles and blades. Kudos and good luck. Jeff✌️
This was amazing to chill and watch you make all of you beautiful items. You are so creative! Thanks for putting this video together!!😀 I really wish I had t one of these I know you make it look completely easy because what you're doing is very difficult and dangerous in the wrong hands at times I'm sure. :)
Just love your creativity! Have watched all your videos and look forward to what’s coming next in the NY. Thanks for keeping me so interested in the many aspects of woodturning. You are truly inspirational.
Wow Jack, that's wonderful. I guess I miss undersaw something. I thought you had ground open all the pieces...which confused me. I thought ok, well it's a vase that's not a vase....But IT'S A VASE!...a very nice vase.
@@JackMackWoodturning Picking one(?)…There were a number that really appealed to me. *The second one (I think) was the ‘small’ vase with the ‘dimples’ on the top portion. It is simple (comparatively), the wood is beautiful, & the dimpling on the upper portion (also ‘simple’) added an interesting texture. *The piece that ended up as the clock. For me it is a bit hard to read, but the structure with the 2” (?) branch pieces with the gold & black resin was very cool. I think, for me, I would have preferred a bowl with a 2ish inch (or so) straight sides That would have kept the focus on the wood which having both outer & heart portions is very appealing. * *The first piece showed off the wood nicely, but I prefer smaller pieces, generally. *And there were others. The bowling pin, was inventive, read a bit ‘cutesy’ for me. I do appreciate your imagination. *My favorite one though, is the Golden Rain Burl. (I think I got that right.) The wood is absolutely exquisite & your treatment of it shows it off perfectly. Plus you took the time to hollow it out. It is Gorgeous. I think resin has it’s place. Your latest project ‘1000’ pieces I really like, but first and for most it’s always about the wood for me. Interesting wood with a treatment that honors it will always be my favorite. (I’m a Tree Hugger too.)
On the feature You thought looked like aquatic or a lion,I saw a turtle head from the rightside..camera angle..the other looked a bit like the face of a hawk straight on.. Great job!
