Am Jamaican brought me back to my childhood watching my strong physically abled dad making furniture with his hand held tools, now in his 90s . This brought me so much joy watching with my little son telling him stories of my dad and I in 🇯🇲. Beautiful piece!!!!!
Some may find it interesting to know that this 'knot' was once a branch that joined either a larger branch or trunk and was sawn off some years ago by someone (probably a trained arborist/tree surgeon) who made the final cut at the correct angle. The tree then started to set down woundwood (very strong with a high lignin content) around the edges of the final cut (looks like a ring doughnut with the hole getting smaller over time) until it finally occludes (i.e. covers the face of the wound). This piece is interesting in that it has spalting (the dark lines) which is fungus and associated decay that has been compartmentalised (i.e. sealed) which suggests that the branch was dead when it was cut back. Anyway, you made a beautiful job of this piece. It would be good to get a piece of Yew with the same 'knots' but with them opposite each other for the internal detail.
@@justjeff600 Yes it looks similar i.e. a raised area on a trunk or large branch but caused by different things i.e. a burl can form after an injury or an infection by a pathogen or an abnormal concentration of growth cells and the internal grain features are usually fantastic.
Ass uming that this is going to be the thing that turns all of us adults into a ten year old temporarily lol regardless of that this “turned” out to be a beautiful piece 😄
How can 4k people dislike this video? Honestly, it is sad to see all the jealousy in this world. This man is clearly talented and makes incredible pieces of art from scratch. Unbelievable work! I would love to acquire some of your work if I could. Keep sharing your talent with the world, I know I appreciate the craftsmanship as well as many many others!
As an art conisseur I love this piece, I see nothing sinister in it, so much joy can be gained from that which bears little semblance to the original, indeed, artistry, in it's purest form.
This man can make any piece of wood you give him into a beautiful object and it's even cooler that he shows the process on youtube not caring if people copy his amazing work
Andy, I think your work is amazing. I’d really like to hear you narrate some of your videos. Taking us through your thinking on the piece, what you’re doing as you cut, what type of tools you’re using, and things like that would be fantastic. Keep turning!
Yes, I am stating the obvious... Wood is absolutely, undeniably, one of the most precious, beautiful, natural works of art God bestowed on us!!! You sir, highlight just how wonderful His gift is! Awesome!!!
Master, once again your touch has transformed this piece of knot into the beautiful creation that was inside. I love the grain that you brought out of the wood. Well done sir.
Just because it’s in your head doesn’t mean it has to come out of your mouth. That’s something your parents should have straightened out by the time you were seven.
Woodturning is really interesting! i first thought woodturning seemed inaccurate, and pointlessly hard work, but i have been proven wrong by your beautiful work of art! Will definetly get myself a woodlathe to try myself in the future!
I just LOVE watching "Woodturning"!!!! I think it's INCREDIBLE what you and other Artists make out of a Simple piece of wood, especially a piece with a KNOT IN IT!!!!
@@jeremytreece I know. I kept thinking, "what if your flippin' hand gets sucked into there." He has to have some nightmare stories about tools flipping across the workshop.
@chimpanzee eagle A power tool flailing about centimeters away from your hands is relaxing? Jesus, dude. These videos are pure anxiety at the beginning, when the objects are still rough. Still love them, though.
As soon as I pulled up this video my first though was, “That looks like a butthole!” Then I saw the first comment from Joel C and laughed so hard I couldn’t watch the video for ten minutes. 🤣🤣🤣
I think this Tree was SMILING ON YOU WHEN YOU TURNED INTO SOMETHING SOOO VERY BEAUTIFUL SO UNIQUE I LOVE YOUR IMAGINATION YOU SEE WHAT COULD BE 😊 its wonderful
That first picture I seriously thought someone was making a grill feast of a certain surely very tender but also mighty exotic part of an elephants behind.
Lets not forget to bless the One by whom the trees were created; God, Jesus Christ. "For by Him *all things were created,* both in the heavens *and on earth,* visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities; *all things have been created through Him and for Him* [Colossians 1 v16]
Hi Renee, it’s nice meeting you here.. I’m Richard by name, it would be nice getting to know you better, if that’s ok with you? My mom once said good friends are never too much to have. if you don’t mind, can we be friends?? Lovely smile you got there on your profile picture, it can brighten up the most darkest atmosphere of any man’s world😉.
Another beautiful work of art mister!! You have NO idea, how all stress leaves as soon as I watch your videos!! Not only r u very crafty, the effect watching, does a soul good. U r a Woodturner Therapist!! Thank You.
I absolutely love videos like this! Only, I don't think I could work without music, but watching without music is so calming! Best night time, "wind down" video!🥱😴
In today's "Bowl or Not A Bowl" drinking game I guessed Bowl! Had to have a beer. Hey, play along! Guess Bowl or Not A Bowl! Then watch woodturning all night!
I love it! The way you choose to mount the timer on the lathe always surprises me. I would have never thought to turn that piece that way. Bloody well done mate
I love your work. I'll definitely be checking out your store. This case is a favorite. I don't see your talent as a joke or what God created as a rude pun. I'm glad there are people in this world who have a passion to work with wood. Thank you for your show. As a grandma I can appreciate it.
That turned out incredibly beautiful but the 5 year old in me would giggle every time I looked at it. 😋❤️. You're insanely talented and glad you don't seem offended by the silly comments.
I can’t imagine someone not liking this video. I can understand not being interested but not liking it? I’m sorry. People, find something to do with your life. Absolutely beautiful work. I wish I could afford something so beautiful.
Ah, finally the beautiful vase that was always there, just needed talent to bring it out. I look at burls and lumps in trees as a work of art just yelling to brought out. Nice job buddy
Fantastically beautiful wood pattern. Pay attention to the microwave ovens thrown in the trash. As a rule, the plate picking device is not the breakdown due to which they are thrown away, and you will have a table that will rotate your masterpieces in front of the camcorder.
Pick someone you REALLY don't like and send this to them with a note that says: "I saw this and it made me think of you!" Or "Blowing you a kiss!" Pucker up baby!
Great work. I went to high school from '80 - '84, and they taught Wood working, Masonry, Plumbing, Electrical, Sheet metal, Small engines, Meat cutting, Baking, Textiles, Auto mechanics, Printing, A/V and Machine shop. High schools like that just don't exist anymore. Heck, 4/5's of drivers on the road can't even drive a manual transmission.
