i dont know if there is a technical term for the stick you use to saw stuff really thin, but that hand is hilarious.

totally love the "hand/finger" push stick! will decorate mine with something like this. Ads whimsy to the shop!

It always looks good when it's got wax finish but this piece in particular had a cozy feeling to it before you added it. Maybe it's just me lol

Great craftsman, amazing skill- The gentleman spent minimum of 3 hours and used many special tools and materials above all his years long expertise. Forthe art to survive this piece art work must reward him well monetarily

Как то работая в столярном цеху собрал шпон красного дерева и берёзы,порезал в размер открытки и перетасовав через одну и смазав смолой нанизал на круглый пруток, проложив бумагой зажал всё в паровом прессе, а затем зачистил на станке ленточном и покрыл лаком - получилась рамка для зеркала - аля зебра , потом её всё таки разорвало , но было очень красиво.Сделай что нибудь в этом направлении будет очень интересно!

Шикарно вышло. Поражаюсь мастерством.

This is the best thing I saw this entire week. I'm happy I found this video, I love art, I do drawings but I really appreciate art in wood. Amazingly beautiful job, you need to love very much what you do to spend that amount of effort and time in a single piece.

As an earthly person Jesus must have felt the same way when he created things as the son of a carpenter. Till he took over other more grave responsibilities. Loved it.

HAVE YOU EVER THOUGH ABOUT GETTING A FEMALE ASSISTANT TO WORK WITH YOU ? ONE THAT COULD TURN HEADS ?

I like it except for how dark the "clear" Osmo finish made it. Maybe try Rubio Monocoat. Here in California, I'm trying a new spray polyurethane by Deft called Deft Defthane Gloss Clear Oil Modified Urethane Low VOC Polyurethane Spray. They can sell it here in California in spite of our restrictions on high VOC sprays. The curious thing is that the label says that it is for repair and touchups, which makes no sense to me. Why not for regular finish? Anyway, it has UV blockers, which is what I really want, to retard fading of exotic hardwoods.

Amazing work. I gotta say, any time turners switch abruptly from time lapse to normal speed during turning, like at 9:35, my pulse kicks up and I instinctively hold my breath for a catch or something bad to happen. Happy to be disappointed here.

I’m so grateful for channels like this. The times when I miss my Daddy, I come here and I remember the sounds and smells from sitting quietly in the corner thinking my Dad was a magician while watching him create. Thank you for giving me a place to come and be reminded of the most wonderful man I have ever known. I wish I had the time and money to invest in teaching myself how to do what my Dad loved the most. Maybe one day, when my kids are all grown up, I will. Until then, these videos will have to do. Again, thank you for sharing your talent and skill. It touches more people in more ways than you can imagine. Beautiful work. Almost as magical as my Daddy.

Brilliant work. May I ask, with this blank are you in effect doing a very large spindle turning piece here, or is it more like with a standard bowl blank/faceplace turning. It seems to me that you have created a blank which has all the grain aligned so you can treat it like a long grain project.

I've watched a lot of your videos and I've be wondering what the machines you use are called how long each step in the process takes you. Have you thought about adding that to your videos? Not as a voice over, maybe as text within the video.

Nice work, but never wear gloves at turning tools....bad accidents....

All that work ruined by using finishing oil. Next time use a lacquer or french polish the lust will be deeper and the finish will last a lot longer.

I understood. the main purpose is wood chips for the smokehouse. and the pencil box is a side effect.

I've even made a few pieces with segmented rings but I never saw vertical segments like this. It's beautiful and I bet it's like heaven to touch........ new sub here!
