That is a beautiful winged bowl with an amazing history. It will definitely become a family heirloom. Wifey says that story would make a good children's book.
Hi James thanks for your comments , it was lovely material to work with. My Mum thought the same about a story, need to think of a catchy title.....? 🪵😃👍
@@HarrySmithShorts - Hi, This is his wife Lori. I would love to buy a copy of the book when your Mum has it finished. Maybe illustrations along with photos of the wood could be part of the story? As for a catchy title here is a suggestion, The Wood That Sailed Through Time. Have fun with the book.
Hello what a wonderful piece of wood its got awesome grain in it and the finish you use made it really shiny bowl. I'm from Scotland UK. The story of the was really interesting thank you for sharing with us
The grain illustrates the difference between old growth wood and the faster growing trees today! You can’t get wood like that much nowadays! Fantastically beautiful and you make it look sooo easy! Fabulous job, Harry!
@@HarrySmithWoodturning The ones I’ve seen have been beautiful, so it’s hard to say this one beats them all. I will say that this piece is unique and surely is at the top.
G’day Harry, I’m from down under in Oz Sydney. I love your work. What a magnificent bowl from a piece of wood with a fabulous story. I’ve just turned my first square bowls and they are amazing as well. I like the actual bowl shape of yours though. I went back to the beginning to see the actual shape of timber. Great work, keep it up.
Greetings from England Greg and thank you for your comments. I was so lucky to be gifted this piece of wood. Glad you like the shape and you tried something similar. Keep watching 👀 ... 🪵😃👍

WWWWOOOOWWWW Harry what a stunning piece of Oak with such a fantastic history to it. Your shape allowed the best of the grain to be visible for all to see. Love it Harry. Take care mate. Cheers, Huw
Thanks Huw, I totally agree. It was a great gift. I feel so lucky to receive and be entrusted with its future by my friend at BLOCKWORKS_UK Hope you are well .... 🪵😃👍
My story line in 50 years. Grandma purchased the bowl when she was a younger woman. ....50 years into the future....The has come to settle her estate. Some of the family vaguely remembers when grandma talked of getting the bowl but they never really listened so it goes into the estate sale. A young woman happens along and sees the beauty and craftsmanship of the bowl and happily purchases it. On the ride home she wonders, as she looks at the beautiful bowl beside her.. what is your story? As she makes herself a cup of tea, admiring her fabulous find, she clicks on youtube. And what do you think is first in her feed? Of course this video! Now the circle is completed. Beautiful works as always!
Great video Harry. You truly are an inspired artist who brings out fantastic wood products. Couple of days ago I cut down few large tree limbs with my chain saw and thought that you could turned them into beautiful products but I had to put them out as yard waste.
Thanks for your comments Rob. I would have loved to receive the gift from your garden and turn it into something beautiful. I think you live too far away unfortunately 😕 🪵😃👍

Beautiful work 👏! That oak looks to be pretty old. You can tell it's been sitting awhile by the color and you had to use carbide tools on it lol. Thanks for sharing! Take care and GOD BLESS 🙏!

I think you do awesome work. I wish you would tell me what you were doing, why you were doing it and what tools you used. I like to hear the turner talk about what he/she are doing. But this piece was really nice.
Thank you for your comment Ronnie. I prefer to let the wood speak for itself and allow the tools to tell their own story as they make their changes and alterations to the wood. 🪵😃👍
Lovely work once again Harry. Can you please let me know what the product is that your using to seal off the splits. I have a turning going on just now & I could really use something like that. Thank you.
