A Fallen walnut tree that was dead and full of termites. As I cut up the limbs I thought to myself what an interesting piece of wood to turn on the lathe. I wonder what that would look like if I can manage to Complete the project. As I was beginning to remove the bark and outer layer of wood, I was very concerned that the integrity of the Wood Was so bad that I would not be able to complete it. I was very happy to see as I near the end of my shaping and it was still intact. So I turned it around and began Hollowing and hoping for the best. To ensure the termites were dead and gone after I got it rough shape. I put it in a plastic bag took it home and placed it in the freezer until it was frozen solid. And then let it start and unfreeze him completed the turning. I have not found any issues with this process of freezing to kill the termites. No chemicals are needed and they are always sufficiently dead. I do appreciate you watching my videos, I hope you like this one. If you do please comment, give me a thumbs up, and please share this channel with others.

What a unique piece. I like to see what people can do with wood that most people would just throw away or burn. Good job!

This is absolutely awesome ! I’m so going to try to mimic the multi holed surface on a rustic knotty pine piece I have had laying around in my garage for 6 years. Art imitating nature is I feel is the humblest way of offering true respect.🙏🏻

That’s so cool. Thank you. I have a couple more of those walnut pieces. I’m thinking of pouring epoxy down those holes and see what happens. Thanks for watching.

@@darrenswoodworks8695 I think it’ll turn out great. I you created two pine cone and epoxy pours last autumn and love how epoxy fills those intricate voids.
