I love how he talks about wood winds but in the background is hanging a bunch of cellos and marimbas

I told my parents that I liked the bassoon. They asked what that was. I told them it's what every oboe wants to be when they grow up. They asked what an oboe was. I told them it was a bassoon that gave up on it's dreams.

How can you keep such a straight face during this video?

I was a woodwind player for 8 years (saxophone) but they only allow brass instruments in DCI so I switched to tuba and I fell in love with the dark rich tone and the resonance. Never gonna turn back

I started with a recorder, I then realised how stupid and childish it was so I switched to trumpet and I've never looked back.

I’m confused... I thought all oboes had reeds, that’s what I expect a flute to look like. But yeah I though oboes had that little tiny reed not a blow over hold. (If I sound stupid please forgive me, I’m new to instruments, and I’m just doing my research before spending money) Edit: oh this is April fools. Just my luck. And here I was researching reed-less oboes. Thanks to the 8 billion jokes in the comment section, otherwise i would have honestly never known.

This video made me chuckle so hard. The sarcasm is so strong. And then you look into the comment section and see that people think that he's actually serious when saying that the two instruments on screen are an oboe and bassoon.

You are hilarious Trent! I have heard some really beautiful pieces played on woodwinds by accomplished musicians but agree that that the real music comes from the brass. I am playing trumpet in a small local orchestra and I commented just last week that the woodwinds, and even the strings, are only useful for creating a framework for hearing the trumpets. Hilarious. That bit about reeds was spot on though. As an oboist, I believe my instrument has the most beautiful timbre of all, but obtaining/maintaining reeds is absolute hell. Were I to make a similarly sarcastic video about brass instruments, I would characterize them as mouth fart modulators, so obscene as to literally have "spit valves".

Wow! I took ages to stop laughing! Very very amusing. Your RU-vid videos are interesting; I speak as a trumpet player returning to playing after - wait for it - 42 years (aged 73). You have enlightened me in some areas. I never knew that the valve trombone and bass trumpet pretty much cover the same area until now.

As a trombonist, I agree with all these claims. Saxophones in my band always steal our thunder! Not only do we have a better sound in general, but when we play, you hear an actual note, instead of air with a buzz.
