I just watched the outtakes at the end. I like those because they show the real world - you apparently had several do over's and I assume that includes dimensioning and gluing up new panels each time. Without these outtakes, the rest of us might get depressed when things like this go wrong and we feel like idiots because the content creators did not seen to have any problems. Thanks for the honesty.

I don't normally watch videos with CNC projects as I know I will never be able to afford one, and I am somewhat envious of those who can. However, since it is your video and the thumbnail looked interesting I decided to watch it and I am glad I did. Great video and great result. I do enjoy your snarky brand of humour and love the out takes where things go wrong. Allows me some relief about my mistakes and pure misfortunes. I do hope you enjoy your CNC and make many great projects with it. Having cut some lettering on a scroll saw, I know I could probably replicate your sign with a scroll saw, but at a huge time overhead.

Hello Drew, Soon as I see a notification from Fishers shop I know the next few minutes are gonna be a joy and never wasted. Thing I like about you Drew is you don't aspire to grandure. You do great content but that content is no more than you wanting to share your experiences, triumphs and hickups with your friends as if we were all there with you in your basement. That's what makes your vidz so special. Ive been following other folk on here from when they first started putting out their content and while they were small I enjoyed everything they put out. Now they are getting huge I still follow them but the magic has gone, that down to earth by the seat of your pants affair has gone. Its now all about getting the top of the range kit and how it works. They are now just sponsored platforms for the big brands to showcase their products. 😖😞 So Drew, if it ain't broke don't fix it, keep doing what you do, how you do it and we'll be there with you as long as you want us there. Thanx for everything you're a star. Your friend in the basement, Alec

I watched this when it first came out. Didn't have a CNC machine but like your videos so much I watched it anyway. Fast forward to today. We ordered the new version of the X-Carve 1000. I remembered your video so just watched it again. The pen jig mounted on the side of the spindle is a brilliant idea. The whole project came out beautifully. Your process is very easy - and enjoyable - to follow. The outtakes are great, showing that everyone experiences hiccups in their work. Thanks so much for this great video. And we are very excited to start working with our new X-Carve! (Munches on some pretzel-shaped veggies while writing this comment)

Love the sign and the process -- a few things I've learned since my 1st few attempts with inlaying - since you are already using Easel - use it's built in "inlay" function and specify the bit size - it will automatically adjust your pieces (positive and negative) to add the required curved corners so you don't have to chisel them away and perfect fit right off the machine. Also - next time leave your inlaid pieces on the thicker materials so you can avoid tabs, then once they are carved and still attached to the board, then send it through the bandsaw to cut them free from the back. you'll never have the pieces jump out like the P in the outtake portion

With the hardwood and Titebond 3 I was anticipating a plot twist where you use it as a cutting board. Then the Danish oil came out and I shed a small tear. Or the tear may have been residual from the P then P joke, that was brilliant. Fantastic demonstration of both skills and humility - that chin stroke at 10:58 is all too familiar ;). Thank you for the 13 minute treat!

That was amazing, my only comment against what you have done is that I personally would have used a rubber mallet to hammer the pieces in so as not to dent any of the cut out wooden letters, but your finished product worked and looked great. I really liked the planer sled to stop the snipe too, I think I will copy that idea as I was really impressed with it. Thanks for sharing the info Glen 😁👍
@FishersShop

Sure. I knew I’d be planing off the letters so I wasn’t worried about little dents but if I wasn’t doing that then I would definitely want to be more careful like you said.

Good to see just how much hand-work is still needed even with the tech. CNC is just a tool and has limitations like any other.
