Hello.
With a miter saw, the material cannot be placed properly on the cutting table. When it comes to cutting long materials, a support device is essential. There are many different products and options, but this jig has features that are not available in off-the-shelf products.
If you have experience using a sliding circular saw, what does this guide have to offer you? I think you can imagine it.
Anyway, it's easy and convenient to use!!
Although it is made of steel, there is no welding involved, so the design is easy to make.
The required skills include cutting steel materials, drilling holes, and cutting taps, and someone with experience in these operations should be able to make it in less than two hours. I think it will cost less money and labor than a miter station, which uses a lot of wood.
There is a strong image that a sliding circular saw is the same as a carpenter, and we wanted such carpenters to use it, so we made it up to 50mm in height. It can't cut 105mm posts, but it can cut 45mm studs, so I think it's great for cutting large amounts of square lumber used on site. Easy to install and move, you can install it anywhere. Since multiple clamps can be used, it is also possible to hold down warped materials and cut them accurately. Of course, cutting to size is also OK.
I don't think professionals will use this model, but please create a guide that matches the model you have.

drawing
If you need it, please download it and use it as a reference. All sizes are not included, so please choose the size you like. The only fixed dimensions are the dimensions of the mounting position. This is to use the existing hole, but other than that, you can use any dimensions you like. Can be installed on all fence type models. Please determine the dimensions according to each location. The great thing about DIY is that you can make it however you like.
By the way, the model in the video has a total length of 860mm. It was a little too short.
*It's hard to understand from just the drawing, so if you watch the video around 06:16, you'll be able to understand the overall relationship.

We have a short 860mm version and a 2m version and use them accordingly.
I used to have different sizes, but I feel like 1200mm to 1500mm is the easiest to use.
The range of each support bolt should be 2m or less.
If the length exceeds 2m, the weight will increase, so you will need a stronger support instead of support bolts, and even if you do decide to use support bolts, please install support bolts at 1m intervals.
The plate used is 100mm wide and 3mm thick.
This size is a little expensive, so you can get a different size that fits your budget. I think it's okay if the width is 50mm or more.
Regarding the amount of protrusion.
The one in the video is 60mm. This is the size we use because we mainly cut square timbers, but when cutting something close to 300mm in size, we change to a 110mm plate. This long plate is also OK as long as you mix one or two pieces for the whole.

steel material
The material used is 40mm x 20mm steel. Although it is a material that woodworkers do not use very often, it is superior in terms of accuracy, strength, and durability compared to wood.
These are the materials used in the video.

It can also be installed on other models by changing the installation position. Basically, existing holes are used, but if there are none or the locations are inappropriate, please create new ones. In this case, we recommend bolts of M5 or larger.
