If you add a metal loose tea strainer in the down chimney, it has a small lid attached by a little chain. Light the chips, then put the lid on and smoke goes down. You don’t have to just use it on alcohol, cheese tastes really good like this too. Happy 2022 to you.
@@daigleswoodshop5159 The shavings from your lathe work great to make more smoke in the chimney. I use the chimney down and have a recession so that the flame pushes the smoke into the glass
I like the way you work…nice job ….I found they work much better with coarse saw dust (like off a resaw bandsaw) but just a pinch; not too much; we dont want to completely block the screen. Also with ice in the glass It creates a natural downdraft. This was my experience 🙏
would have turned it on the lathe in one solid piece. glue a few pieces of stock then turned it. maybe glue a few different kinds of wood sandwiched together.
Did you ever figure out how to get them to smoke really well? I just made a very bushwack version of a chimney on top one and it doesn't smoke super well. I wonder if the size of the chips matter?
I actually got it to smoke really well! The chips I used were about the size of a goldfish (the snack not the actual fish) and it did fine. When I wasn't getting smoke it was more due to the flame strength. When I used a stronger torch, I got better results. It could also be the hole from the smoker into the cup. I made mine 1/2". Hope that helps, thanks for watching!
If you put a loose tea strainer cup in the down chimney, it has a lid attached by a small chain.. when you light the chips in the tea strainer in the chimney, just pop the lid on it, and the smoke is forced down into the glass. You don’t have to drink alcohol to enjoy this, cheese is great down in a jar. Have a great 2022.
I used cherry to make the smokers and I used pecan for the wood chips. I think beech or white oak would be fine to use for either the smoker itself or the chips. Any wood that you would use to smoke meat could be used for these smokers, the possibilities are endless!
I make a version of these, except they’re used with chocolate milk and you fill the chimney with meth… I’m expecting sales to pick up during the holiday selling season…………..
