I KNEW hooj would love this series. It made me so sad to see people ripping on you for "hating" on him. Hooj is an intelligent player/coach for a reason. He can take good constructive criticism and implement it into his gameplay to make himself an even better player. Its what he did before and it would have shocked me to see him not do it now. So happy to see you guys communicating and that he caught wind of the VOD reviews. Keep at it worthy!
Even with the crontroversy, idk why so many people hate on him, i know its not good what happened (even if its or isnt true) but wtf hooj content is so insightfull and its free, if someone doesnt vibe with that content, just seek other coaches. its no that hard
@@blackicynoob6119 He has his own personal coach idk how much he's really studying these vod reviews, but he's said on stream he thinks worthy is cool and doesn't care that he's doing this.
16:17 I’m pretty sure Hooj doesn’t recommend unbinding crouch in his coaching either- but here he isn’t coaching anyone, he is going for the win. So, temporarily making a teammate to treat the symptom alone (as treating the cause will take too much time) is simply ideal!
He does for low elo, because low elo is mostly fear, taking that fear of gunfights off is what he recommends alongside his drills in the range and usually what you need to get normal skills to get Gold.
I was like why I should watch a guy reviewing who hasn't hit the same rank., but the quality of the review was purely worthy.. then the GOATed banana approves it... This world purely lacks people like you guys.. Learning from both of you..❤
As soon as I free up time from a full time career, get an editor I can fully trust, and make this my main source of income, I will make the climb since I know this is a source of importance for the community
honestly, i was paying way to much attention on the chat on the side, as i still remember the conversations i was in. Hlaf my brain was in the "take theyir water, kill their women and children while they defend their water" -train, the other half was discussing wether or not the valorant attackers are terrorists
Dude you are such a good coach, I hope you continue reviewing vods, and just a suggestion -After this you also start a series of climbing ranks, and would love to see your insights in those games too...
Free? Do you have any idea how much attention this series is getting? The value is on worthy side. Most people including me would not be watching if not for these vod reviews.
This 18:30, I can say with all plat-ascendant phoenix players who lose all fear when playing in their ultimate, is that it goes two ways. You either, blindly swing a corner and die to someone holding you. Or become a one man army as you confidently flick to your targets heads and tap without a second thought.
This gonna sound crazy but i feel neon on this map is ggooooood She can straight wall down B opening to defend back site and completely negate market and opening of back site And me as a so a main, i can dart market wall to see rest of site Me and a neon did this in rank repeatedly and they struggled to deal with us
About the hold at 13:45 (worth noting this is coming from a much worse player and I agree it wasn't an optimal play) but Hooj loves off angles, especially when hes low health. I've seen him talk about in his coaching that once you are low health and no util holding an aggressive off angle or one and done angle becomes much stronger. Setting up some sort of a crossfire on boba is probably stronger but IG im curious on your take on that idea (taking aggressive fights where you're likely to get one but more likely to also get traded). Also another question, I'd consider a 4 v 2 less secured than a 3 v 1, do you agree and if so is a major issue in that example that he's essentially cashing out the rest of his impact and relying fully on teammates - when he should be maximizing potential impact to climb?
I’m ngl I’ve had crouch unbound for a couple weeks and I still hold control all the time. It’s out of muscle memory I don’t even mean to, when I learned I was told to crouch after first couple shots in a spray and it cause me to spray all the time. Rebinding it cause you said but it’s so hard not to crouch and then I just get headtapped
dude i dont know how to be consistent i com i play initaitor so i use my util for site and its either i get killed while stunned or flashed or i get spammed through some type of smoke
i feel like i could prob do a lot of this that could get me more kills but might not win us the round like i could bait for my kills but i feel like baiting is for me
It's an alright map depending on your agent. Personally it's one of my best maps on Phoenix. My defence playbook in a nutshell for Phoenix: I mostly start Market each round, I hold bottom mid to try get a pick mid on lazy enemies (enemies that aren't worried about a market threat as they scale up, often due to a teammate making noise top-mid), I close switch before the tiles peek timing unless I can trust a teammate to hold tiles. I fight off enemies if they try pushing B as I can immediately start fighting there too. And finally, on rounds where I can have an advantage with an Outlaw or Operator, I start top-mid, and hold bottom-mid for easy frags, before fast-rotating to where all the action is. Of course, it's a bit more dynamic than that, but it's a good starting-point if you're new enough to the game to not have any specific playbook yet. Develop the playbook, learn when you should be doing things differently, adapt, figure out the best way to defend each specific area of the map, etc. Very easy to do on sunset in solo queue, at least from my own experience, after countless hours in Ascendant elo. I like my Phoenix Defence Playbook on Sunset because it essentially means I'm able to defend OVER HALF of the map myself no matter what my teammates do (even if they die early). And A-Site retake is easy in my opinion, if you know how to. Throwing a piece of util behind Generator usually secures at least one kill, which is on average extremely impactful.
Mann your videos are so easy to watch and so easy to learn from. While I love woohojin's content, it just doesn't quite work in my head as well as the way in which you explain things. For some reason I am absorbing and remembering information SO much better when listening to you. I don't know what you're doing to make this happen, but whatever it is you're doing, keep it up! Keep up the good work! I'm a new fan (only watched 4 or 5 vids of yours) but I'm in love with your content already!
17:35 What if you put yourself in an optimal position, yet still lack the confidence to not crouch? I'm aiming to become a video game coach in the future and I'm wondering what can be done about a general lack of confidence that a specific player could have regardless if their positioning is optimal, and I'm also wondering if such players are common. My guess is that the answer to this is for the player to simply keep playing the game, however I also know that the answer might not always be as simple as that...
The optimal positions allow you to run away from a fight that you don't need to take.. as long as you can survive you shouldn't feel fear.. fear would come if you committed to fights that you shouldnt
@@w0rthytv Yes I was just talking about a general lack of confidence that I see sometimes players have. Such players will typically play passively, they will avoid solo fights, etc. I guess it might be a larger topic though.
