Hello from New Zealand! Great podcast ladies! Wine stuff - NZ and Australia pronounce Shiraz with the 'as' not the 'arhz' sound. Shiraz and Syrah are the same grape, the Aussies just changed it when they started making it. One theory is it was misspelt, and now it sticks. It wouldn't surprise me at all - it would be a typical 'down under' way of doing things! 😂 Tammi, I'm so glad you knit the linen top by Joji - I have Knitting for Olive pure silk and want to use it on that pattern but was unsure how it would end up. I too didn't want to have to wear a singlet underneath it. You've inspired me to do it - though we're heading in to winter here so it won't be for a little while yet. I have been to Spain on holiday before and loved it. It's just such a long way to go from NZ that I haven't gone back. I might just have to, and include Portugal in the trip too! May as well make that 30hr trip worth it! 😂 That's my next holiday sorted! Now just to convince the husband!

I have a few unfinished wips that have been on projects bags for awhile, but generally, I usually have one major project and a pair of socks on the go. The socks are an easy vanilla, small project that I can take with me anywhere, and the major project is usually a sweater. Thanks for another entertaining podcast, have a great time on your trip. I always look forward to the next podcast.

Hi ladies: What a treat to knit and make chocolate with you gals! Funny that you should said this is a Ranunculus show, Tammi! I’m finally knitting the Ranunculus! 🙌I’ve been eyeing it and lots of people said is easy and fun! It looked complicated to me, so I was waiting on the sideline for years! Your finished sweaters and WIPs are so inspirational and stunning. I’ve already added some to my dream knitting queue! I am a monogamous knitter. I can only concentrate on one sweater and a pair of socks or baby booties at most. One time I had a few WIPs, but they were being timed out because I messed up in pattern and I felt overwhelmed. I find that for me is better to finish one or two items and then cast on more. Have an awesome, amazing, and memorable time in Spain/Portugal. Tammi and Janet! I would like to go one of these days. My daughter bought me back two skeins of Rosa Pomar Retrosaria and a project bag when she went to Portugal many years ago! She’s not a Knitter or crochet but did awesome in her selection. I am hoping to be able to find transportation to Rhinebeck. I have never been but always wanted to go. I’m two hours from Rhinebeck. Thanks for sharing, enjoy a restful lovely summer, and happy knitting! ❤❤

@@aggierowe9574 Yes, unfortunately I inadvertently forgot to change to larger size needles for the body. Got up to sleeves separation before I realized, had to frog back to ribbing. After that I had a few more mishaps. The 6th time might be the charm! 🫢 Initially, I didn’t verified stitch count against the instructions mentioned before proceeding. After a few oops, I am counting and find that I am either under or over the stitch stitches mentioned! 🤦🏻‍♀️

More beautiful projects! You three are incredible. It's hard to say which projects are my favorites because each project has it's own unique beauty. 🙂 As to the type of knitter I am...I think I'm more like Claudia. If I have more than two projects going, I start to get antsy. That said, I do have a blanket in footstool storage that I pull out to work on every now and again...maybe in year 3 or 4 on that one. 🙄 Tammi and Janet, I hope that you have a safe, and a very enjoyable, trip. Looking forward to seeing the three amigos back together in a few weeks. 😊

@woolandwine Год назад
Thank you so much for watching. Claudia here, I guess my problem is there are so many projects that I want to do, but realistically, I'd say three at a time is probably my max. Although today I pulled out a winter project and I kind of want to work on it. I guess I just need to give myself permission to cast on and not work on things because I can only do so much. 😊

I always enjoy spending time with you three. Janet I made the Bee Beautiful sweater....you made me do it. LOL I love it and it fits perfectly but I used a cotton yak yarn from Katia and I find it itchy so I'm going to try some creme rinse on it. I totally vacillate between monogamy and cast-on-itis. 😂 I cast on all the things and then get stressed because I can start to feel bogged down by WIPS and feel like I'm not finishing anything. So, then I focus on a couple of projects until they are done, and the cycle begins again! LOL Love finding a podcast of knitting friends in my age group. Younger podcasters are great, but sweaters do not look the same on me as they do on a 20-something. Love all the inspiration and laughs, and of course the wine. Don't pack yarn for your trip. I love souvenir yarn shopping and that yarn shop in Lisbon sounds a great place to go to. Just pack your set of interchangables. Hope you have a wonderful trip and please add some clips from the trip in your next podcast. Usually I like to finish a project before I cast on a new one. That being said, I always try to keep one "waiting room" project that I only knit on away from home. But... I'm going on a trip soon and suddenly I had to start and finish multiple winter accessory sets!

You guys are now officially my favorite knitting podcast, and I watch a LOT of knitting podcasts! 😘 You are always inspirational, and I appreciate how thorough you are with the details of the yarn and patterns! Sometimes podcasters mention patterns but don't spell them out or have an error in the name, and it's frustrating for viewers to find the pattern later. Never happens with your podcast! ❣️ Thank you! I am wondering if one if you is a former teacher, since teachers are often very detail-oriented. 😀 I am watching on Saturday, so Tammi and Janet and their husbands are already in Europe. Very entertaining ladies! You had me laughing at the multiple projects on the go and also being concerned about running out of projects for your trip. I can totally relate to all of it. I'm a multiple project lassie now. I believe that if you are not feeling the love for your current knit, it's helpful to change it up and knit on another project until you are ready to come back to it. Sometimes, when I revisit a knit that I left aside, I realize I don't want to continue with it, so it gets frogged and is reborn as a new project! Have a wonderful trip...can't wait to see what yarn you find!

I generally only have one main project going and then another small one for when I’m on the go or needing a break because my brain is too tired from work to focus on much of anything. So, for example, I currently have a dress on the needles and a little dumpling bag. If I don’t finish the big project before summer heat hits, it will get set aside and I’ll only work on little ones. And even those get set aside if it goes over 85 degrees. I defy anyone to find any yarn that moves through sweaty fingers well and I don’t have air conditioning up here in the mountains.

I've been a bit intimidated by the Ranunculus but I'm determined to make one for myself. I like to have about 2-3 projects on the go. Different types for different moods: a sweater, a smaller project. I've been working on Christmas and birthday gifts all year. Now I just have 2 more pairs of socks and a cardigan for my husband to go. Have a great trip!

Angela, The ranunculus is fun and not difficult and so beautiful! I’m glad you decided to knit one! 😀

I am a monogamous knitter; however, I try to have a pair of socks on my needles. I also do lots of other crafts and am working on a crewel wing chair , a scrapbook of a grandchild and a historic cross stitch project! Too many things to do and not enough time!!😅

I want to add that the lace on the Ranunculus can get messed up pretty easily if you're not paying attention. Enjoy and have fun.

Claudia here, I love Washington wine country! I like it better than napa. The reds are spectacular! I have quite a few in my wine stash that will be coming out from time to time. Thanks for watching and see you next time.

On camera, that ranunculus looked like a brocade type fabric. I kept wondering how in the world did she knit that?? With the right skirt it could be worn for a formal event.

From what I understand Shiraz is pronounced both ways and it depends on where it's from. But I can come back and edit with more info. My hubby works for a company that does website work for a bunch of wine companies. Edit: yep, that's what it is. The pronunciation depends on where it's from but both are correct.

Syrah Is France, Shiraz Is Australia. Syrah Is The Birthplace Of That Grape... France Might Have Done It First, But Australia Might Have Done It Better. Depending On Who You Ask. 😆

"Other studies have discovered that Syrah has its origins from the Mondeuse Blanche grape and the Dureza grape, two rustic grapes from eastern France. Generally, Syrah is known as Shiraz in the southern hemisphere"

Love this podcast ladies. Just found it like 3 weeks ago. Do you like Sauvignon Blanc? I must say I’m a caster oner I will cast on 10-15 projects and only finish 1. But it’s okay as long as I’m knitting right? I don’t really wear my knits I just like knitting them.

I can't say we are fond of Savignon Blancs... But there are some good ones out there. I'm always surprised when I try them that I like. I am not fond of those from New Zealand. If you just like knitting, and don't wear anything, maybe knit for deserving friends. Thank you for watching.

Hi just found your podcast so much fun. Can I ask what cast on you do for your ranunculus please. Have a great holiday
@woolandwine
@woolandwine Год назад
Hi Carol! Welcome 🤗. I cast on 60 stitches using the old Norwegian (twisted) or the German twisted. Both are stretchy. Then I jump right into the short rows. I just ignore the fussy cast on in the pattern. Cheers! 🧶🍷

Hi from NC 😀🍷, relaxing here with a glass of wine enjoying your fashion show. Every sweater is absolutely beautiful. How long have ya’ll been knitting? I’m still trying to concur a sock! 🤣. Any suggestions for a first sweater?
@woolandwine
@woolandwine Год назад
Janet and I have been knitting for 4 years, and Tammi, I think, has been knitting around 8 years. My first sweater was the Yume by Isabelle Kraemer. It does have lace, which was a bit of a challenge for me, but having Tammi, an experienced knitter, helped a lot! I have seen sweaters on Ravelry that have beginner in the name. You might want to look at one of those. Thanks for watching.
