You can skip my ex husband in your prayers actually. He went over there with a silver spoon in his mouth as a 2nd lieutenant 7/68 with an office job in Vung Tau, the R & R center, read science fiction novels and ate candy bars all day with his feet up on his desk as per his report, at night snuck out and slept with whores and this got him shot through the femoral vein and artery by two GIs holding a Vietnamese cabbie at gunpoint in a little Lambretta cab. The ex's life was miraculously saved by some MPs, he was airlifted to Japan where he didn't lose his leg, got to come back stateside 8 months early, and then managed to get a very generous 30% disability for his injuries and simply had to wear a custom-made Jobst support stocking for the remainder of his life for severe varicosities which simply only interfered with his ability to work as a general contractor (when he felt like it) once in his life for maybe 2 to 3 weeks one summer early 70's due to cellulitis or stasis dermatitis. Although he'd been told his disability award was an extremely generous one and to therefore never come back and try to get more plus was told by his then wife (me) 8 years his junior to not do what they told him not to do, he then made the unilateral decision that he should in fact due just that since he was that special, lol. Of course he drives to Sepulveda and was then chastised for coming back and so instead of getting his way as he expected, they then decreased his disability award to 20%. I guess he should have then considered himself "lucky" that they didn't just take it away entirely?? I dunno really. I'm just glad I was finally able to use him enough to help me make it through finishing my schooling in 13 years just for my BS degree through the years of my own illnesses and injuries in order to be readily self-supporting and then also be able to recoup financially enough from all the money he managed to steal from me through our real estate dealings and near-total house fatality of '83/'84 in order to save myself from his utter destructiveness even though I never could save our once sweet and sensitive adopted daughter from all that ruination of the soul. Currently now closing in on age 50, she now is described by my own psychiatrist as sociopathic herself and so basically there's nothing I can do about changing her future at this point and therefore it's just me on my side of the country and them on their side of the country and never the twain shall again meet. Anyway, pray for my long lost daughter instead. Would you just do that?
I am at Centerville Cementary in Sanger ca. I walk every day 4 miles, and stop and play extended version ( wooly Bully) To the vets at our Memorium. I thank them and dance a lil to while song is on! I say bye Guys see you tomorrow.
That is called dedication! I am sure these brave service men and women appreciates your visit and also y-our remembrance. Thank you so much, Maria. Much Respect
As a Vietnam Veteran, i fell in love with this here song way b 4 i went to Vietnam and i made it thru that mess and even stayed s longer time than i really wanted to, but what the heck, still a fantastic song and love the longer version period and all whom served, God Bless!!!
Hey, I'm curious why everyone is mentioning Vietnam with this song? I'm aware of its use in Full Metal Jacket of course but afraid that war was a few years before my time. Would love to know the symbolism or why this is so beloved by Nam-Vets
That picture reminds me of my friend Jim Riddle. Jim died several years ago. He was a door gunner on a UH 60 during Viet Nam. When he arrived they asked for volunteers with a "promise" of three months off their tour. Like everyone who has been in the services will tell you, "never volunteer and no matter what the recruiter says, don't count on it".
My cousin Bobby did 2 tours in Vietnam and seeing the choppers and hearing the radio chatter in the background reminds me of my brother Steve who was 101st Airborne, the Screaming Eagles. Bless all that served and are serving today. Thank you for your service.
Th3ze young lads gave there life's for nothing g. The American government should be ashamed. These you NG l lads gave there lives l. Greed for the Americans
Agree a utter waste plus the many thousands who came home to what..!! Terrible times and not to mention the flashbacks and re adjustments to so called "normal"life again..Respect to all who serve in the forces..
THIS IS THE GREATEST CHICANO ROCK/ POP OLDIE OF ALL TIME. MILLIONS OF PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD 🌎 HAVE DANCED TO THIS ROCKING SONG OVER THE DECADES SINCE 1964. LET'S NOT BE L7
Blessings to all who gave their lives in what they thought was freedom Unfortunately wars are fought behind closed doors by men that don’t have a clue what these guys went thru
My Husband volunteered 2 Times, the 3rd time was declined he is my Hero ❤ and still going strong, So sad that so many Lives where taken and destroyed 😢may they all go to heaven, please ❤
I am a memorial monument, at centerville, cementary located in centerville, ca ( sanger) I play wooly bully( extended v.) For them. Everyday I walk 4 mile, and stop to say hi to them. I am proud of all the military men Blessings .❤
I'm about 7 years too young to serve in Vietnam but most of friends who taught me about the biker lifestyle did serve and I thanked them like I do everyone who served. That was a totally different kind of home coming though
My father didn't serve in Vietnam. He was deaf in one ear and had bad eyesight. I was born in 68, and may not be here if he had to go!! God bless to all who did!!
The war in Nam had the best sound track. Son of a Vietnam vet,God bless those guys who served over there and came home betrayed by their government and traitors hippies.
THIS SONG AND JOHNNY B GOODE WERE THE FIRST 45'S I OWNED WHEN I WAS A KID. LOVED PLAYING THEM AT MY HOUSE PARTIES. EVERYBODY GOT UP AND DANCED SHAKING THEIR GROOVE THINGS
One of my best friends was killed over there 10 days after he got there and one day before I got there. We were home on leave before we went over. He will never be forgotten.
Thank you to all the vets of all wars and those who didn’t come god bless tou ladies and gentlemen I was young in the 60s 16 a woman I barely heard of Vietnam my apologies I didn’t listen properly god bless you all thank you for your services around the world for keeping us free love from 🇦🇺
This was a senless war. Shame in the American government. All those young people. So shocking. These dam governments and their wars. What for greed. All you vets sleep now. Good night.xxxx
Exactly… so sad what the politicians get young people into. While I might agree with the hippies disdain for war and longing for peace in the world I do feel the vets should’ve been treated way better than they were. I am a little less disrespectful though of young people today who don’t want to sign up for the military. They see these wars and the politicians who play them as a game. They ultimately decide it’s not a good idea to sign your life over to subservience of politicians who just use them as pawns in their chess game. So sad to have seen so many soldiers come home in caskets, wheelchairs, psychological problems, disabilities, etc from pointless wars that weren’t really fought as defensive actions.
We all served - my uncles dog when back was - “shien mein “ he was two weeks older than me - my uncle Pat was the in the original advisors- pulled shot down Helios out - lost a first cousin in a fire fight - what a pile is shit we left - when you are considered cannon fodder by the feds you can expect Nothing less - those souls will not be forgotten
I lost so many classmates and neighborhood boys over there…one neighbor boy went over in Nov and in Dec they brought him home ..we had his funeral right after Christmas….he was killed by friendly fire…19 yrs old
To All whom love this song is to remember it always in its content and has its own way of saying and doing to those whom will remember it always and to all who have served and did their duty and to honor those whom did not return and i did and a lot of my friends did not and i dedicate this song to whom will always b a memory to me as they were and until i pass myself and still will be a bogging down the road to this song and thank you all very much!!!!!!!!
I expected more of Vietnam scenery. I grew up watching the war on TV every night. My husband and brother served in Vietnam. If it wasn't for the men who served in Vietnam demand for the right to vote, I would not have voted at 18. I believe you changed America for the better. I am sorry that you weren't honored for your service to our Country.
I agree with the premise of having the right to vote at 18 since that was draft age. I just question low information voters right to vote. I don't have a solution but draftees should have the right to vote against war. Vietnam was never voted as a war. Politicians sons never went to war.
@@MikeJones-rk1un It was a war that for the most part was fought by the lower middle-class boys, the lower-class boys, blacks, Latinos, and whites, and the rural boys from the farms and small towns. Where I came from all but three of the boys served. I was a farm boy and i served. If your Daddy was rich, well-connected, or had some sort of power, you could get out with a hangnail. USMC 1969-1971

Me and my fiance are Vietnam babies he was in the army but got thrown out cause his Sargent called him a name cause my fiance is full Cheyenne indian from South Dakota I'm creed and Cherokee but we both was born when that useless war was going on
My husband is a Veteran, United States Navy, Vietnam WAR. He worked what was considered the next most dangerous job after of course the battlefield. He worked the flight decks of the aircraft carriers Ranger and Midway. At the same time he was there I was a 'hippie peace freak'. I didn't like the war. My uncle and other family members had been ON THE BATTLEFIELD during WWII. They came home f'd!!!!!! I did not know my hubs during this time of the Vietnam WAR. And now I see that we should have never even been IN a WAR!!!!!!!!
The kids today have no clue where there freedom comes from and they don't have the balls to fight for it. I would like to thank everyone in the armed Force's

Watch it now bullies of the world 🌎. Hight don't make might. Be nice. Life is too short to waste on bullies. Be careful who your friends are. I've experienced some really not nice people in the dumps. I'm trying to forgive them right now. It's hard being nice to people bullying me lately. Locking myself up in my room didn't work.physical and mental.bullying is not nice. Including a manager that protects the bullies is not acceptable in my Father's House growing up ❤️💜❤️💜❤️💜❤️💜❤️💜❤️💜❤️💜❤️💜❤️
