HOW TO TEST THE FLOW TURBINE:
In the video you will see there are 3 different coloured wires coming from the flow turbine, we will need to test all of them.
The 3 colours:
Black
Yellow
Red
1) Check between black and yellow without the tap running. You should be getting 5V or 0V DC.
2) Check between yellow to red without tap running. You should be getting 5V or 0V Dc
3) Check between red and black without tap running. You should have 5V DC.
Now with the hot tap running
4) Check between black and yellow. You should be getting 3.5-1.5V DC.
5) Check between yellow and red. You should be getting 3.5-1.5V DC.
6) If it’s still at 5V or 0V with the tap running, then the flow turbine is faulty. It should change when it detects water flowing through it, if the readings don’t change then it’s faulty.
Note Make sure you are also getting the correct flow rate for the boiler

Tips. 1- you dont need to remove the heat cell retaining clamp. 2- use wd40 on the flow switch ends, so you don't pull out and damage the flow adapter behind the flow switch. 3.- look under the flow switch, you'll see an arrow indicating the way the flow switch should be put back in. 4- replace the 15mm fibre washer on the inlet isolation valve. 5. Always use long nose pliers when removing the U-clip as it can ping out and fall behind the kitchen units if you use a screwdriver. 6.use grease on the tips of the U-clip when putting it back, and again use long nose pliers and put the straight side on the left with the bent side on the right. Just advice from someone who has done over 100 of them .

Hey Kieran, thanks for adding in some extra tips! I’ll pin this so other engineers can hopefully see this and benefit from it👍

I was messing about with one of these til 9 30 last night, I managed to get the seized turbine moving again by soaking it in some boiling water for 5 minutes. I know that was clutching at straws but it got me out of a mess and it might do to someone else too 😂

I hate the greenstar compact, such a fiddly boiler to work on.
