Really good video. I fitted Worcester for years. Stopped now as I found them becoming unreliable. This was a tough one. Shows how sensitive the gas valves really are. 👍
@HeatingGeek
@HeatingGeek 4 года назад
The fact the gas valves don't get set up from the factory is annoying. Worcesters are generally good boilers for 7 years. :-)

Pretty good videos, and agree with the comments that you’re pretty good. Simply can’t believe that you repaired the gas pipe after it split! That part 110 percent should have been replaced. They are famous for that pipe splitting and causing all sort of issues. You can get a red gasket kit that comes with the gas pipe too for future reference.

Great point, I have done loads of these gas pipes now. I have them on the van. With the red seals and electrodes. :-)

FYI...I had one where the heating will come on for a minute then loose it's flame...then come on again after 10mins for a minute and then turn of. Hot water was fine. It ended up being the internal timer (mt10.). Just incase you come across one.

The MT10 is a vanstock item for me, not the most reliable timer. I done a 937 shunt pump the other day and filmed it so hopefully will up load it soon.

What a bag of spanners! Life is too short to fix boilers designed by people who quite obviously hate gas fitters. The 1st boiler I ever fitted was a Worcester, they used to be great in the early days now they're IMO the biggest bag of spanners on the market.

I wish I had known because then I wouldn't have opted for an Ri18. I've chosen the worst bloody boiler.
@Lutonman2010

Had an Ri a while back which locked out randomly. Did a full baffles out strip and clean with the magic bog brush, new electrodes and gasket etc. All normal tests ok, min/max/final ratios and gas rate. Inlet pressure etc all ok. Ntc range ok. Condense ok blah blah blah. Bloody thing still randomly locked out maybe once a week, or once every two weeks. In the end on the third visit I heard a tiny, barely audible ticking from the pcb. Like something was arcing out. Changed the board and it’s been perfect since. Why won’t they make the noise on the first visit!!!
@HeatingGeek

Boilers can be a pain. I don't even know what fixed this boiler!!!!! Perseverance defiantly pays off. "The magic bog brush" comes out in the other Ri video along with the garden hose.

The hard bit is when you spend multiple visits and you cure the problem but customers near enough breathing down your neck,noticing that your struggling and then you try and justify getting two days labour off her plus parts .
@attilagal6672

I've just got an Ri18 fitted. Constantly locks out. The gas engineers who fitted it has changed everything on the system. He says it must be airlock. I can't understand that. I think my boiler is a faulty one. Do I have the right to say that this is not fit for purpose and I want it removed? I paid £4238 for the installation and my boiler keeps locking out on daily basis. I'm pretty passed off. I want it removed.

how did you fix that split pipe? and educated guess at what that pipe is or does?, as sure seemed to fix the problem, great videos, waiting for part 2 on your home boiler, whats your boy on , 1 pound per video! ha ha don't pay him to much, as you wont be able to afford him next time.

so the gas pipe split ? if the gas valve was letting by the boiler case could fill up with gas and cause an explosion ?

But if a gas valve lets by any boiler could have problems.
@ronb8302
@ronb8302 3 года назад
Just seems odd that they fit a flimsy plastic gas pipe where outside the case you would be riddored if you fitted a plastic gas pipe. They could at least ensure it was decent quality.
@Mrcatcherye
@Mrcatcherye 3 года назад
no that hose is on negative pressure, gas gets sucked up to so it wont leak out when split. It just sucks more air in, if u analyse the boiler with it split it gives you sky high readings of CO. Thats 1st indication that hose has split

I have the same problem on my very brand new Worcester Ri18 heat only boiler. Constant lock outs. Rarely works without any problems but the lock outs are happening almost every day. It's been freshly installed, and it was out of the box brand new. My plumber has actually given up on me. He doesn't want to come back anymore. I have paid £4200 for the installation. Had new Honeywell motorised valves fitted and also a brand new Grundfos pump too. The lock out still happens. I would appreciate if anybody could explain what was fixed in this particular video as the issue wasn't highlighted in the end. Thanks guys.

I'm really sorry mate, but can you please be a bit more vague with your vids because you shouldn't do 'how to vids'. Even if you add "don't do this unless you are gas safe registered " as a pre-fix or a get out clause. I think your input on a private platform would be very useful. ( And please check them out . They are for qualified people.) But posting in depth vids here for unqualified humans may not be a good thing for anyone. I understand about building your channel and stuff but please be more responsible and filter what you broadcast to the public👍
@HeatingGeek
@HeatingGeek 5 лет назад
I get what your saying. I don't even need to add the don't work on boilers bit. I checked with Gas Safe and its not a problem. I have been on manufactures courses where kitchen fitters and builders are attending. Anyone can pay and do a 6 week course to do their ACS now. You think people learn safety in 6 weeks.... Tell me a private forum where I can host my videos and let ANY gas safe registered engineer watch it? Or somewhere they all have access? Gas Safe could do that in a heart beat. If they do I will delete every video I made and re upload to the other private forum.
@dazdavison1

HeatingGeek ignore him mate, your doing a great job. Irrelevant of what your showing on these videos customers unqualified should not touch boilers other than for controls or power, if some chancer wants to think they can have a go then that’s got naff all to do with you.
@benjaminfrost4363

for the moment forget about gas safe, builder's and kitchen fitters please. The issue of posting 'how to fix your boiler' on youtube , to the general public (as they have full access to it) is a BIG issue. How you can't see that as a qualified person i don't understand.
