Where are the Appearance Widgets & Menu items we all love so much in wordpress? The answer is right here... If the video doesn't help try installing "Classic Widgets" plugin
Dude, I can't thank you enough for this video!!!!! I have been busting my butt all day trying to figure this out and you were able to solve my issue within 2 minutes after spending hours looking at other RU-vid videos that didn't help at all. SERIOUSLY, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THANK YOU!! I know this vid is 2 years old but I’m coming here because I’m making a sports reporting blog and I was struggling. I appreciate this so much!
Thank you so much Steve. It's been 2 days for me. I was going to start crying and rolling on the floor until I found your video. Stay awesome! - subbed...like totally!
OMG YOU SAVED MY LIFE, I'VE BEEN BACK AND FORTH FOR HOUURSSS SEARCHING FOR THE SOLUTION, AND I'M SO HAPPY THAT YOU MAKE THIS VIDEO. THAAAAANKSSS!!!!!!!
Thanks a lot Steve. I'm just starting to build my first WP website after having played around for a while with WP on localhost. It was a bit stressful finding things not as they oughta be on my ISP's WP installation, but you saved the day. Much appreciated.
I solved this problem differently. Editor - Navigation - selected one of existed menu, click '3 dots' and chosen 'Duplicate'. Then you can rename a copy of menu and manage it as a separate one. Without switching between themes.
I've been having issues, for me it seems like there's no Menu or Appearance Widget, I also don't seem to have access to adding a new user either. I'm unsure why this is the case, and I feel as if my WordPress is outdated or the installation process wasn't done right?
A lot will depend on what theme you are using, if its just a wordpress free theme then the latest version wont have menu which is what this video solution explains how to fix. If you cant add users thats a whole different issue. Speak to your web host about that.
Almost certainly a plugin conflict of some sort, disable all plugins and see if the problem goes away, my guess is that it will, then re-enable the plugins one at a time to figure out which one is causing the problem. Hope that helps, let me know how you get on.
Dear Sir I was struggling with this missing menu. Chatting with Elementor support, clearing cache, changing themes. And now here we are. Your help was priceless. May the good things only come back to you :)) Thank you❤
Depending on what theme you are using there may be different settings for mobile and desktop. Also, this may simply be a web cache issue, try a different browser or clear your cache.
Hi Steve, my site only has Twenty Twenty Four theme active, is there any way I can retrieve/install a Menu option (that drops down from Appearance)? Thanks
But, but... I lost customizer in appereance menu but website have severeal pages, posts and it's online for 5yrs.. Correct me if am wrong: if I activate some other theme whole website will mess up with look, am I right ??? urgent please
When I change the theme it does indeed bring in the menu item - however it wipes out my page. Not compatible. I change back to the 'Block Builder' theme and it brings back the page - but the menu items disappear again! Ugh! Is there just a plugin I can use?
I am using Wordpress theme for my website and while I'm editing it I can't see the Log In button which I see on the theme demo site on my page. I have followed all your instructions but I am really having a hard time. Can someone help me? Thanks!
Thanks so much for this. But my question, I'm done Designing the website but with a different theme. Would Reactivating the old theme not mess up the website?
Yes, absolutely, this change is theme driven part of wordpress core. You could try a plugin, I believe there is one calle Classic widgets that may work but I havent tried it.
Thats the whole point of this video. All new default themes have this problem. Switch to an older theme and see if they come back as explained in the video.
Thanks for sharing this video , I was facing the same problem and not able to do anything for an hour , then I saw your video and everything got solved .
Thanks for video. What if this doesn't help? I had another theme activated, but don't have widgets either. I even deleted other themes (also twenty two) but it also didn't solved that isssue. @Steve Dawson Could You help me 🙂?
Omg. I'm gonna try that tomorrow. I seem to have the exact same problem with the theme twenty twenty four. Apparently, not all themes have the possibility to create a " menu "
I also faced the same situation as you. it took me 3 hours and i couldn't find it. Vietnam has no guide. until I decided to reach out to international friends. and i solved it. haha. thank you very much
All new versions of core Wordpress will have this problem. I hate it but others will love it. On most of my sites I use a theme builder on top of the core so it doesnt affect me as the theme builder solves the problem. The Theme Builder that I use is here gotoinfo.at/thrivethemes There is also now a plugin which I havent tested called "Classic Widgets" that may work. Hope that helps
This problem is with most new themes since around April 2023, if you are stuck with a specific theme then check the Wordpress repository for this plugin wordpress.org/plugins/classic-widgets/
Simply because a wordpress update way back in 2022 removed this as an option and made the new way over complicated in my opinion. If the video didn't help try installing "Classic Widgets" plugin (its free)
