Work Bench Add Ons

The new work bench is nice but let's make it better!!
Have a look as I make a couple of additions to the bench. First some access to 120 volt power for tools I might need at the bench. Then a place for my grinders and accessories.
I make a panel from some scrap rough cut 2 X 6 and some old pieces of peg board. It makes a great place to stow the grinders and have them close at hand for when they are needed.
I think these adds are pretty nice, but what do you think? Let me know in the comments please!!

those peg boards are very handy,,, I really like those brad nailers much faster than using tacks.

Hello there Vernon. What shop doesn't have at least one small piece of peg board eh!! The brad nailer works some nice but you need a compressor and a hose and that makes it kind of a bother. Take 'er easy!!

I sure like your table saw. That is a nice one. I had to give mine up to my brother. It was a nice Craftsman saw. I sure miss that saw!

How's she goin'? I was a long time finding this saw Gary!! I bought it used from a guy who used to make hardwood stair cases!! It's not a top of the line saw. It's a King model, but has some 'big' saw features that I like. The main one being it's a cabinet saw. Thanks for commenting. Take 'er easy!!

Pegboard is wonderful! I took down a white board in my class at a school and replaced it with a big pegboard. Administration was not happy with me until seeing how great it was using it to hang student work, lost items, little boxes with pens and pencils and other supplies. I turned out to be the envy of many! That board fits nice and slick in there...and look how handy it will be...awesome!!

HEY MIKE ! ! ! All the best for this day of yours old friend. Good I dea hanging the grinders there. Handy and close to where you need them most. I found pegs that the grinders hang on at Can Tire. Hang the stones and sanding disks between them as well if you have the room. Or one side on the sliders above. I sure like the blue, Matches my eyes, LOL. Looks again I spoke too early but always rambling along, LOL Everything is looking GREAT my old friend. Like everything you put a lot of thought and consideration into your projects. ONWARD EH !

I like the grinder rack next to the bench in an otherwise unused space. If I could suggest a bit of an overhang on the end of the bench to prevent chips and swarf from the drill press from landing on the grinders. I know you intend to create some distance between them. Even then I have had issues with power tools ending up with wood dust or metal shavings being drawn into the cooling fan and on to the brushes. It's a fine bench. With the strong vise on the end and the storage units you have added it is a great addition to your shop

I like the additions, I have the similar things. The grinders where they're easy to get at is one of the best things I did on my bench, power bar too. Happy Birthday! You aren't getting old Mike, you're younger now than you'll ever be!

Like the peg board idea. When you started the video and said you are going to do some addons, the first thing that came to my mind was a power bar but you beat me to it, good call. All my benches have the power bars, never enough power. I have never taken the time to hang my grinders but I should, they just look better. Pegboard isn't something I've worked with but you made that workbench end look really nice. That'll be handy for do dads. A guy can never have enough place to hang things up. You'd be safer using a sled for the first cut, likewise using blade guard and riving knife. Keep those fingers for making more epic things!

Whenever I get the bench set up more or less the way it'll stay, I'll change those lights around to be more over the work surface of the bench! Thanks for watching. Take 'er easy!!

@@GrampiesWorkshop Seeing the comment about the lights made me think of the camera mount I made. The one I made from PVC pipe is very handy for close work. It lets you swing the camera either front or back, side to side, up and downs. All for a few dollars for a piece of 1/2" pipe, some elbows, and a floor flange.
