Just a small note, that's no longer the case for the probation period, under the new labor law which just got effective a few days ago, employers are required to give a notice period to their newly hired employees so firing or terminating the same day is no longer an option. Jackrrish I think you misunderstood what I mean. Probation periods are still applicable. Before the law amendment the employer can come at any point in the probation period and terminate the employee on the spot. Now it requires a notice period even if the employee is still in the probation period.
If you want to just work and have no social life then Dubai is the best place for you. Unless you work in the government companies you cannot expect any work life balance. I worked in marketing agency as a designer and let me tell you something there were no good benefits. Yes the starting salary was ok but I survived because my family was here to support me. If you're planning to come to dubai alone then do some research on modern slavery it'll show how indians and pakistanis live here. If you're ok to share your room with 10 people then yeah go for it. Your job security is ZERO they can fire you anytime and once your visa expires you are kicked out of the country. So please prepare yourself for the worst before even thinking about coming to the UAE. It's a great place if you have money but if you don't then its the worst.

Thank you for this useful video. I have a question, you mentioned that Dubai has a 6 month probation and you can leave/ be sacked within this period. Do you have advice for what someone could do if they were to get sacked? Would they need to leave the country immediately or is there an option to apply for a different type of visa and remain in the country to look for a new job?

In KSA, I worked for almost 3.4 years at Aber Medical Group, where there were no increments. Despite the fact that my digital marketing work benefited every BDE (Business Development Executive) of the hospitals and clinics, my manager was inefficient in securing a salary raise for me. In the first year, they stated that according to the contract, I would receive one after two years. Later on, they blamed it on "corona." After that, they claimed that my work results were not trackable, even though I provided reports from their hospitals and clinics. I eventually left the company and joined a company in India where I didn't ask for an increment. However, I am now receiving increments. I was afraid to take a risk when i was in KSA. Thanks to the govt, a new law was introduced preventing employers from exploiting employees. Even after the new rule, my previous company said they couldn't transfer my iqama (residency permit). I have ask my manager, who gave him the rights to customize "Saudi labor law". Companies that go against Saudi law should be punished by the government. After a while, the company asked me to come back, but I asked for an increment. However, they had already hired five people to do my job for SR 20,000 per month, while I was only getting SR 3,500. This is the reality in the Middle East. Not all companies provide increments; some exploit their employees. My manager, who had threatened me, was eventually let go because of his boss, once I left the company. He survived by relying on my work, but karma eventually caught up with him, just as he had tortured me. Beware of such companies; you should never let them cheat you.
