Hi. I'm glad I found your channel. I am currently taking a course on GRC analyst from another RU-vidr. Paid $30 for it. He's passionate about teaching it. Is it safe to assume that your Compliance work falls under the C on GRC? If so, I didn't know that Compliance had its own job duties, I thought it was all under the umbrella of GRC. Anyway, do you use a framework to conduct your audits? Is it safe to assume it's NISM?? Not sure if I'm using the correct terminology. I'm still learning.
Hi… so i currently work in the healthcare/pharmaceutical industry and the department I work in is very unique… from what I can tell all of our SOPs and even the software we use have been created or tailored to our specific business… so while auditing methods may be similar the tools we use are definitely unique to my employer…

Hello Thank you for the video! Very informative! How is the work life balance working in compliance? Like do you have to work every evening and weekend just to keep up. I am currently a Sr Auditor for a international financial services company and I’m TIRED‼️ I recently interviewed for Sr Auditor position with a large pharmaceutical company but I wasn’t sure how much of a learning curve it would be and again the work life balance. I used to do SOX Compliance work before becoming a Sr Auditor for a financial services company and I loved it and had more work life balance. Any feedback or suggestions would greatly be appreciated! 🙏🏾😊
Thank you for watching! I will say outside of the cross-functional (client facing) work that I do, I really enjoy my work life balance now. Prior to moving to this role I was heavy on the client facing which had me working an additional hour or two… but now that my main focus is strictly ensuring my client’s programs are compliant I definitely have more freedom. It gets a bit hectic when they have audits but outside of that I can work on my daily tasks independently so it makes it easier for me to streamline my work. Hope that helps

Hi Joel, thank you for watching!! I was fortunate enough to grow internally and get hands on experience and moved into compliance at my former employer(financial) as well as my current employer (healthcare/pharmaceutical) both very different industries but similar processes from an analytical and auditing point of view. Though I personally wasn’t required to be certified given my experience and the specific role that I have dealing compliance involving government mandated programs etc… I do know that my employer does prefer CISSP certification when it comes to information systems or cyber security compliance. Currently my role is permanently classified as remote so that truly helps. On top of that my department and direct manager are more focused on task completion so as long as I am doing the work and my calendar is up to date (ie blocking any personal time on my calendar [doctors appointments or unexpected/extended breaks] they are super flexible.
Hi I believe it will depending on the type of compliance work you apply for… my current role does not require a cert due to the specific healthcare industry that I work in, however the company I work for does list different certification as a preferred attribute though

Thank you… Honestly the advice would depend on the industry you’re going into but my biggest take away so far is to be open to learning and expanding your skill set… I was stuck in a box in the financial field and moved to Health and pharmaceuticals and I’ve be cross functioning (within reason) to expand my knowledge within this industry… so far I’ve really enjoyed my role however I’m always looking to move up and that requires me to no necessarily be cross functional but have knowledge of the different moving parts in my industry… hope that makes sense
