SAME. I’ve been using beatgrid on projects for a while, and now with the addition of color-coded keys, pseudo-effects, and frame snapping, it’s become even better! 🎉
A great use for Hylian is to duplicate a layer with layer styles (let's say an inner shadow), and change the blending options to make it transparent and add another inner shadow (i.e. as a color dodge to make a highlight) It's actually extremely useful for this, enables a way to make it changeable
Thanks for the updaete video. I love all BattleAxe's tools, and you do such a great job teaching them. Hylean actually would have saved me a lot of time today. I had duplicate shape layers, but the matte shape layer was a merge paths/intersect. I had just linked all the paths manually before watching this.
Wow!! Really nice upgrades! Particularly in Void that I use a lot for my character animation! Question: Is there a way to add some effects on Void layers like slant os transform for skew or any workaround to it?
Do you mean you want the effects applied to a void layer to affect any children of that void? That would be possible if you copied the effects with property links from the void and pasted them to the layers you wanted to be affected.

I see in 2nd class where you are teaching anticipating box animation where you use the value graph for ease in or out, I want to know why not you used speed graph for that? do we have more options in value graph? because the same thing we can do with the speed graph.... please explain it thanks... What about an option for Hylian to (on alt/option click) parent the animated properties but with something like "+value" so that you could adjust the new layer, but still maintain the primary animation from the original? Like adjusting scale, shifting position, etc while maintaining the original animation.
Installation instructions for all of the tools can be found on their product pages. But the KBar source of truth requires that you own KBar. That's a tool made by another third-party developer and you can get it on AE Scripts.
I feel like i am being really dim - is KBar a different product that is not from BattleAxe ? I have downloaded KBar SOT but cannot work out how to install it. Is KBar a paid product from AEScripts that needs to be purchased and installed first ? Thanks in advance!
Sorry, yes you've got it right. KBar is another extension (not made by Battle Axe). The source of truth is a collection of buttons made for kbar, if you already own it. Check it out on AE scripts. It's worth every penny.
Does the Anubis x KBar situation require KBar 2? Or a specific version of Ae? I have everything up to date (apart from KBar 2 which is a seperate purchase and Ae which is one or two versions behind) and I'm still not able to trigger Anubis properly 😢
Why does after effects lag so much man I watch people make all this cool stuff man soon as I get 9 to 10 layers in my laptop is wheezing for dear life 🤦🏿♂️ I'm upgrading my spec soon but even people with amazing specs say the same thing its like after effects has then insatiable appetite when it comes processing resources
It's true, and likely because it's such an old piece of software. Newer programs like Blender and UE5 have the benefit of being developed in a different time period where the development of the software was able to take advantage of modern hardware. Adobe has updated AE just enough to play along with modern hardware for years now but has never really been able to catch up. The unfortunate reality is there's no single-app competitor to AE, and until someone does compete we're likely going to just have to deal with what Adobe gives us.
