Your tone feels very different than anyone I have known who was a Steelworker. Yes it is dangerous and yes it can be filthy. Many steelworkers I knew had a beater car they drive to the mill. And most all of them had a locker room with showers. The idea that a mill was dangerous and dirty was something most steelworkers wore like a badge of honor. The steel companies should be ashamed of the violence they instigated against organized labor in the early 20th century.
