brilliant business model, well pay everyone nothing. slow clap. and sorry you all deserve abuse in person & to know how you have destroyed culture. go post on spotify and see how your podcast goes... lol
I got my first job on a data science team for this summer and have been super nervous about it and living alone. Your videos have been extremely inspiring and encouraging, and I feel less anxious and more excited for this summer. Thank you Julia!!
Yay to your work life balance!! As always, love your videos. For some reason, I'm always relaxed after watching them. I think it's your vibe so thanks for sharing!
I'm so excited to see something like this in my future. I'm a college freshman in CS with an emphasis on AI/ML and Data Science. I can't wait to hopefully have a nice life like this. I do know that you can't see everything through the lens of a camera so I'll be sure to not let this dilute the difficulties you've been through to get to where you are today! Edit : First year of college is over! Time to hone up on new skills and do my best to get past stage two of internship interviews! :) Though I am a freshman, not impossible, but most have been no’s. Always next year!
i am considering getting major in cs. Can you tell me what it is like? Is it lots of math? What do your assignments look like? Thanks for answering if you do.
It’s so great to see that you’re very productive everyday, and constant viewer like me inspires by you to be productive coz not everyone can do that 🥺 this is so satisfying! ☺️ xoxo from Philippines 💖
Thanks for motivating me. I've been feeling so burned out lately. You amaze me how you can go through so many meetings yet still have the feeling to do editing.
Please continue to make your videos Julia! They’re so relaxing and inspiring and I look forward to them each week. I can’t believe you can do so much in one day!
Man looks like we all had a hell week this week with meetings and a lot of to-do’s. I’m so glad it’s Friday. I’m wiped so no way to make it out plus it’s raining really bad here in Maryland. You go girl. You seemed to have really figured out how to balance everything and props for your non profit work. Each vlog shows how much dedication you have. 🌸
Thanks for the video! As another 20-something year old person working on Software on the East Coast, it's great to see someone else who seems to enjoy their job but also prioritizes good WLB, contributing to their community, and also making sure to keep healthy. A lot of these videos show engineers who have pleasant lives but who seem rather lonely and uninvolved. This is a great model for working hard and enjoying your job but not letting work take over your life. Kudos!
I found your channel JUST NOW and I immediately subscribed! I’m still a college student but your routines in work, health, & social life is very similar to mine. Never related to someone so much! So excited to be a part of your community! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I am so happy that I am watching a video of Spotify's employee. I love using Spotify and now she is a data scientist there. I love watching her videos, they are informative and encouraging.
"You just have to do things that make you happy" the phrase that really wrap ups the video and I really need this mindset right now at the start of my new job. Thank u 💓
I'm a junior SE and loved your vlog! I think you hit on something at the end: "it's just a job." I used to glamorize the tech industry, but I'm starting to see that the work is not always innovative and transformative...sometimes it's literally just a job lol..Keep up the good work and can't wait to see more "day in the life" vlogs!
I work as a data scientist in Chile 🇨🇱 and I found very interesting the "no meeting ones day", I will try to implementing it with my coworkers, nice idea!. Nice video!
How are you not exhausted. If that were me I would have been soo burnt out by the end of the week. Damnn you are amazing ! I am going to start my work life in a week and I am soo scared that it is beyond imagination.
so glad i found you. I really want to work at spotify but on the business side because I sadly didn't get a technical degree. It's literally my favorite app ever.
I’m also a data scientist and Spotify is one of my dream companies. It’s so motivating seeing you working there and have such a good time. I hope I can get there one day!
I remember that time when my boss who is from the US came and visit the office in Viet Nam, we had a little conversation and he asked where would you like to visit in the US? I told him NYC. It kind of my dreams to do it in the near future.
Hello Julia! Your routine has convinced me to make time to clean my setup 😂No but in all seriousness, this video gives a lot of perspective! Interestingly enough, I received a survey earlier today while using Spotify that asked me about how I would feel if Spotify began pushing a merch/cd/vinyl platform on Spotify to help fans further support Artists. Personally, I think it would be a great addition that would directly support the source. It would be a win-win for Spotify and the Artists rather than using a 3rd party system. I wonder if you were a part of that team in any way 🤔 I wish you all the best!
This work in my life video really inspire me to be a Data Analyst! I'm about to start my journey as a Data analyst as well. Thanks for making this video, Julia, and wish me good luck on my journey :)
I'm really excited about your work life and this is the most impressive video I' ve ever seen. Obviously, you've all talking when video is on, which makes me be the person being crazy at watching every video made by you. Hope you'll make video like this
I just love and enjoy your videos a lot.. I really imagine myself living in NY and having a super nice life like yours. it seens to be amazing. well, I work in a non profit too hehe but in the Dominican Republic.
Well, I don't mean to mean something wrong, but this kind of life feels very depressing to me. It's all good if you like it. Still, it's just my opinion as a pretty sociable guy who likes to always work in fields and wants to enjoy the environment by going in it, I won't like staying in the apartment for more than half of the time of my week and be just sticking to my computer without having anybody to talk things about. So I would feel good if I saw you doing some fun activities, be it with your friends or boyfriend, but that would make me feel good if I know a person living an active life and enjoying it to your fullest rather than just sticking to some virtual meets with some so-called Higher-ups. thanks
so i am currently a second year in psych and i have to move to the Netherlands bc of reasons and i found the degree data scientist and i got so interested in it and i saw i could minor in psych also. since then i've been watcing videos of data scientists and your videos are really motivating me to go for it. I am looking forward to this sm
Omg i thought you were working for a small IT firm didnt know you were a bigshot at spotify 😆 love these kinds of video Julia! Love seeing women working in tech, super inspiring for someone like me targeting this career track 💕 btw, are you using a Sony earphones? What model?
you really inspired me with your vlog, I'm sixteen and I really want to be a data scientist in a big company in the future, Netflix is my dream to work there
I strongly agree with you on, learning new skills. I work at FedEx. I have been there for three years and I work in the bulk area of 400. My knowledge of FedEx is that I can do pretty much everything there. I have been moved all around. I am not a manager yet, but I plan on it. I run my area and work on the 400 van line as needed. I set everything up for my manager in the morning. I start with my bulk area first then move to the van line and Inbound scan the package to find out where they go to van scan them in to the truck. I get the scanners for the belt. My manager comes late everyday. So, I do my job and there job. Anyone one that is new on the belt, I try to get to them so I can train them. My wife is at Amazon for four years. I don't know how she can stay be at Amazon. I didn't like how they did things. Amazon is a great company, don't get it wrong. It just how they work you and brakes are short. I miss being in the Philippines. I was there for nineteen months. Me and my wife are going to visit soon. Just saving and working everyday I can get.
I’m currently an upcoming computer science and engineering freshman at a big public university in the US, but I’m not too sure about my career path, yet. I think front-end engineering would be a really cool job because that type of coding and thought process seems best for my personality. BUT data analytics sounds SO cool, and sometimes I wonder…
I love how productive you are yet the vibes of your video are quite chill! I feel like it really shows your passion about the things that you’re doing, ugh for me on the other hand I feel like I don’t do nearly as much as you yet I feel so hectic and burnt out :( Also I never knew you worked at Spotify! I also subscribe to to Lillian Chiu, do you guys work together? :))
Loved the vlog!!! I like watching your videos to make folding laundry less painful, lol. I’m looking into getting that same model of Sony headphones you use, do you like them? Kind of pricey so I am looking for any cons at all 👻
Very interesting video. As a friendly aside, you might want to look into your desk ergonomics. My right wrist hurts from watching you use your mouse. You're at risk for carpal tunnel and similar repetitive strain injuries (your bf will know). I did the same for years and am now paying for it in my 50s. You don't have to set yourself up for chronic pain in the future. :)
