Workbench Check your MFT (style) worktop.
A block that makes it easy to check whether the holes in your worktop are positioned precisely at the right distance.
The block can be made from a piece of MDF where the three holes are 0, 96 and 135.76 mm. drilled. It is necessary to be able to measure and mark with an accuracy of 0.1 mm. and preferably better.
You can also buy a stop block from UJK with the three holes, made very precisely on a CNC machine.
An imprecise worktop cannot be used, it does more harm than good and should be discarded.
If there are only a few holes in one corner of the tabletop that are problematic, they can be marked and the rest of the tabletop used until it needs to be replaced anyway.
After the video has been posted, I have carried out a thorough test of the tabletop I myself use, all 77 holes in the 96 mm pattern have been tested with two sets of benchdogs and the stop block from UJK. In the first test I used two benchdogs with Ø 19.83 mm. and here all holes were approved, in the second test I used two benchdogs with Ø 19.93 mm. here, 1 hole was found that could not be used and 15 holes where it was tighter to insert a bench dog than it should be. I think the 15 holes can be used as they are, but I have marked one hole as unusable. If someone does a similar test, you are more than welcome to write a comment with the result.

Did you build these worktops, and if so, what kind of bit did you use? Forstner, paddle, brad point etc? They both look really nice! I’ve built several mini workbenches recently, and it’s like there’s some unwritten rule of the universe that won’t let a guy get every one of the holes right! Ha! Thanks for posting! I always enjoy your videos!

Yes I have made them, used a UJK Parf Guide Mark 2 system. I was unlucky to get a set where there were errors on the rulers and had 3 table tops made before I found the errors, so now checking and troubleshooting has become a hobby :-)

Hi, my problem is that the 20mm hole is to sloppy for 19.90 mm third party dogs, i think to see you have same, there is a little bit of movement, maybe iam wrong but it sucks in my case😂

The bench dogs I use on the work table measure 19.93 and they sit as I think they should sit both in the work table and the measuring block, but there are other makes with other measurements. I just tried a pair found on AliExpress that are stated to be 20mm. and they are impossible to use on my workbench. Ask different manufacturers for precise measurements until you find the ones you think are best for you.

@@Harris-DIY Hi thanks for your reply, i have 6 small dogs from BenchdogsUK, 19.90 to 19.92 (same batch..!) ...With MDF MR and MKII Parf the holes are just to sloppy imo..I have after my comment us it on a test piece melamine and plywood, dogs now fit with a suction, i think with MDF the holes are bigger. ( 20.2) vs 20.04 Ply) .....I love your vids ;)

Perhaps the problem lies in the type of MDF you are using. I once made a table top in some cheap and light MDF and here the holes were also too big. Try getting hold of some scraps of different types of MDF and see if that doesn't solve the problem.
