Workers Rebel Against Returning to Office: ‘We’re Happier at Home’

Social media is loaded with funny videos of people refusing to return to the office after two years of working from home, but for many workers, it’s not a joke! When Sara Nasah was asked to go back to the office as a paralegal, she quit and found a new job that allows her to work remotely. Data analyst Hannah Williams also quit and found a new job when she was asked to return to office, and told Inside Edition it makes no sense to go back to the office if workers can get things done from home.

My mom worked on a computer 5 days a week 8 hours a day for over 30 years, a job that can now easily be done remotely. It is sad to think about all the life she missed out on and how our lives could have been so much fuller and enriching had she been around more.

Everyones gotta work though, it sucks but without a job, you can't make money, maybe they figured out a better human experience on another planet or alt timeline but here on Earth, it's just something we all gotta do. Your mom worked hard to provide a good life for her family and without the work a lot of positive memories wouldn't have taken place perhaps. Everything changes. 50 years before your moms era women worked even harder and dealt with worst work environments and social conditions. You think we have it easy? Wait 50 years, kids will say to you "wow, you had to use a keyboard and work that many hours?"

Working from home pros- save money on gas ($4 a gal.) up to $400 a month, no traffic headaches, no extra oil changes, no risk of a car accident, write off home expenses like electric and internet. save personal time because we don't get paid driving to work. Working from office pros- NONE I rather get paid 10% less and work from home because I can save 10% or more on gas, car maintenance, and claim tax home office write-offs. Working from home is the future and cure for worldwide pollution and traffic jams.

@@vectwon6767 at only 7 min that is not so bad. My office is 1000+ miles away, I have 3 screens and a better computer than what my company gives me (I hate the Mac book pro that I have not even opened in 6 months) I see my people on screen everyday (I'm nither beautiful or vain, they so they get what they see) and interact with more departments than I did wile in the office. I worked over a year with a severely handicap teammate before I even knew they were handicapped, not that that would matter but not knowing meant that I developed no biases. My cost of living is significantly lower now that I'm not on the east coast, stuck in a city with high crime rates, and outrageous house prices. I have worked from home for over 8 years. Would not / could not go back to an office full time. My morning drive is 2 ft from my bed. Never need to scrape ice off the car windows, or navigate crazy traffic. Eating at home is much cheaper. More time to do what I need to do. And I can work around apartments and family needs. I see my coworkers on-line every day. I have never meet in person, most of the People, but I feel just as close to them as if we meet in real life. We even take time each day to just hang out and chat, This is important as it makes for a smoother workplace. I got sick earlier this ear and was out a few weeks and had more support from my guys that live 100s of miles away, than I ever had in a brick and Mordor office. If you have a Job that is at a desk in front of a computer. Why do you need to be stuck in an office? I guarantee I get more work done that when I was in the office.

Remote working/teleworking has been a huge BLESSING For me as I am an asthmatic, and have disabilities which prohibited me from driving, and that met being on a rigid paratransit schedule. When I was working at the filing warehouse before teleworking, every so often, I would have to go to the emergency room for an asthma attack for several reasons…… Dust from old paper files, seasonal allergies, County vehicles with non-functioning AC units during the summer……… It eats away at my leave and what not. Ever since I started teleworking, I have had ZERO Asthmatic related emergencies.

I have had a work from home job for 7 years now. First 5 years it was work from home and go onsite to clients as needed to provide IT support. I moved to Dallas cause I was offered another job and then I realized how much it sucked going into an office to do what I can just do from home. Apart from having to go to the office 5 days a week, having to deal with toxic coworkers was horrible. I left the job and reached out to my former employer and they rehired me as a full time remote worker and I don't think I will ever look for a job that requires me to go into an office. In other words at our company we been doing the work from home thing for years now way before the pandemic made it a thing.

Just to emphasis how important working from home is... - I moved out of the expensive city and purchased my first home for cheap - The thousands I save on public transport costs allowed me to purchase a new sports car 🤣 - I have plenty of time for things like family and gym now - I have the time and my own space to start a business on the side for even more income. Please people, don't tolerate office work if it's not necessary. My life has completely transformed in a year due to the lockdown, and I am not looking back. Thank God!

Happy for these women, hope it works out for them! This is amazing for mental health and work life balance. This is something which young women who want to have families can benefit from especially. So many women miss out on so much time with their families, kids because of these unhealthy work schedules They don’t tell you there IS a trade off and it is nearly impossible to have it both with the current work culture for the average working woman.Working from home, where the work can be just as productive should be the future. Some will opt out others will opt in but that flexibility can be great. I means just the thought of forever banishing the Sunday blues alone is so appealing.

As long as they get the work done jobs that can be done remotely should be allowed to be done remotely! Stop treating employees like slaves. No one likes the office-environment, its toxic and drains your creativity. Its not easy to go to work for long hours a day. And sometimes people may struggle with regular pains or disabilities which makes it even harder

I went into the office yesterday and got no work done. Got in at 9:30am, lunch mingling, in person meeting (when I usually would multitask, instead we sat in the room and stared at people), had to head out at 3:34pm to catch my 4pm bus since it came every hour and I couldn’t dare to miss it. Got home and was exhausted. Compared to me signing on at home at 8am, visit my baby boy and his grandma downstairs during my break time, get work done and it’s not even noon yet. Walk outside during lunch time, work, work, work and sign off at 5pm. Got in work instead of commuting in and out of the city. I am much more happier, healthier, productive, work efficiently and best perform at home. Thank you!

I guess it kinda depends at what work you do. My dad prefers working at his office at work. He usually ask other people if they've done X and sometimes people ask if he has done X. Not to mention, asking questions and it takes a while for a response instead of a quick walk to the other's office and ask them. You also get more time at home instead of working at an office. Like, cooking meals, going out for a walk, breaks is something you choose yourself whenever you want.

I spent 3 hours and 30-40 minutes just to get to my workplace and back, I was scared and I hesitated to sleep because I would have barely 2 hours of free non-job, sleep, traveling time (that was more spent helping family members and eating then recreational). With covid and working from home I don't have to wake up at 5 in the morning and start my shift at 7. I can take a healthy 7-8h sleep, wake up a few minutes before the shift, do the job and be right at home with almost 6 hours of free time + being an introvert it spares me of social interactions. I couldn't have gotten a better thing.

Part of me loves the convenience of working from home but I also want to get to know my workmates since i'm new and I've only known them from zoom meetings.
