The 1 thing he forgets every time with these jobs is that 99.9% of us do not have a lift, and I now myself if I could make a wish and have 1 tool it would be a lift, I hate driving between a ditch to work on 1
Stacy is the man..... builds all brands and does it the right way. I'm 43 now but when I was a teenager he got my full attention every Saturday morning on tnn.(aka cmt)...he makes sure to show you little tricks (measuring the torsion bar adjuster)I'm glad he's still inspiring people. Nothing but love ❤ Stacy
No brother... Thank you.... You have no idea how much crap I would have absolutely destroyed if you hadn't been there to show me before hand, you probably could have produced a season with the money it would have cost....I've been a lol (repair technician) for 23 years. I'm still an apprentice in my opinion. I learn new things all the time... sometimes even from guys younger than me. Watching you inspired me. I'm not a auto, truck, marine or equipment technician, I'ma if it's broken, I'm going to give it my best shot and get it fixed technician. Doesn't matter if it floats, flies, or goes across the land I'll work on it. I got sick with COVID in 2020 and until 6 months ago wasn't worth a crap. I found your channel while I was stuck in bed. I wanted so bad to be back in the shop ..... my shop. Watching you kept me busy and my attitude positive.... you are showing the way for alot of guys ..... and you hang out with Ted friggin Nugent and built one of the rowdiest bronco I've ever seen... the way it rode a wheelie off the top of that hill was impressive. Keep doing it Stacey 🇺🇸🏆❤️. P. S. sorry for the misspell on my first post. I didn't proofread lol
Well if it looks like a work truck at least where I live that means every single bolt would either be rusted on there and it would snap or there would be no metal for it to go to because that would also be rusted through within 3 years probably no fenders as well the bed would have holes in it
There are crome sockets that are impact rated... their not as common as the normal black impact sockets but they do exist... he is on TV so things need to look sharp
I love your Sgt Rock, I remember watching you build that truck every Saturday, I also remember you found that truck abandoned and you pulled it to your garage that I'm jealous of
As usual Stacey. You really know your stuff . Been watching you decades. You are an amazing mechanic. So cool to see you again. Do you have any cool idea's on Acadia's? Just bought a 22 GMC Acadia AT4-AWD. Any cool ideas on how to trick out this vehicle. Bear in mind, I'm disabled and would have to find a guy like you. Hey I got an idea. Maybe you can do a show with my truck and me. Teach us old motor heads. How to enhance a mild but beautiful Acadia AT4 -AWD package. What do say brother, I'd love to help your story.
Well I started to watch the video because it said work truck!?!? Then you show a four door garage man companion ( GMC ) a dress up BOWTIE! Work truck to me is a two door bench seat eight foot bed 3/4 ton two or four wheel drive!!! Not these COOL ON YOUR STOOL TOYS THEY CALL A TRUCK; I CLASSIFY THEM AS GROCERY GETTER!!!
I'm 6' 5" tall and I'd be the first to tell you that most of these 4x4 2500's already sit so high from the factory that it's a pain to load things into the bed or reach all the tools in your tool box from the ground. If I worked out of it every day, a lift and taller tires would be last on my list.
I hear ya. I'm 6'6" tall and work out of trucks like these. Its nearly impossible to reach the bottom of the bed without climbing in it. Most I would do is a leveling kit.
So happy To be able to catch up on the shoe I grew up with as a teenager rather than all my skills to work on my own vehicles. Now I get to share them with my brother.
No haters! He was a paid shill for all of the component companies he talked about on the show, plus they gave him all the parts he used on the projects. Still great to watch, lots of information, and a very high cool Factor.
Question Can you re-gear the ifs front end to a 4.56 for a 35 inch tall tire gmc 1500 , Dodge Ram 1500 and like you can really-gear the rear axle how do you do it
Lifts on trucks are an mistake. Larger and especially wider tires put more stress and wear on the steering box sector shaft, tie rods drag links, ball joints, bearings and brakes. Wider larger tires demand larger suspension, drive and steering components. It's not as simple as throwing on a lift to do things properly.
@@jesusisalive3227 That's true. But unless it's an custom frame and axel up project who is upgrading with larger housings, axels, bearings, shafts, gears, and links? Mostly it's just some parts folks order off the net that look cool and they slap them on their truck. Daily driver lifted trucks don't qualify. The only ones I've seen proper are the purpose built rock crawlers and hard-core off road builds.
@@aaronwilcox6417 That's not true at all. You are very lacking in your knowledge. Manufacturers are offering lifts as a factory option. The frames on new trucks are crazy strong, they are fully boxed right from the factory.
@@jesusisalive3227 I didn't mention frames. Everything else is suspect. I'm not exactly lacking in knowledge as I change these components out. How can I be lacking when I rebuild axels and do bearing and shaft link swaps? I'm insightful aware of what's on a chassis. None of these light duty trucks are exactly strongly built.
I’ve been watching Stacey build trucks since the early 2000s and I’ve always wondered how much they don’t show of him cursing out the car he’s working on an or even storming off and saying “fuck this POS hate this crap”. He is such a upbeat dude but I’m sure it happens once and a while.
Wouldn't you have to calibrate the TCM/TCU for the larger Wheels and tires for speedometer ? Don't know on the newer trucks but with old ones you just live with it.
I have seen several short contractors with their lowered tailgate at about eye level. Makes complete sense for a work truck. But those are usually the same ones that won't ever take their truck in any mud, or off road trails.... Which makes even more sense having a lifted truck . But they sure look nice covering 2 parking spaces where they park!
Some people want the look but don't want to trash their truck. Especially at what new trucks cost. It's not that hard to spend $50k on a new truck. It's the same as the guy with the blown big block that never takes a pass down the drag strip.
I'm running those tires in 285. I haven't done a lift, but I have completely restored the front suspension on my '90 silverado 4x4 with oem equipement. Also new shackles on the back. I bought some Crager soft 8's in the oem size, except the offset kicks them out a little. It's a good look, and for an all-season, daily-driver highway-runner, it gets pretty good mileage with the 4.6 v6. I kept the oem wheels and will run them in the summer on smaller tires.
Most real people have families and kids they don't need a truck that is lifted 4 in that is so stupid really if you're hauling around a boat to the lake that's when you want to hide truck other than that you don't want one I don't have to look cool in a tall truck cuz I'm cool just standing
I live in Houston. We have hurricane and flooding all the time. A lifted vehicle is a must in most families here. Get out of your little town and travel.
Every Saturday I get droped off to see the grandparents for the day 7 am to 630 pm she would have my snacks and fruit punch reddy beside the coach and after the show was done out to the shop to help grandpa I’d give anything to be able to do that one more time with them
Idk about you, but when I do projects like this I go over every bolt I touched at least once when I'm done anyway. Should retorque everything a few days down the road as well
