Jeez you guys over there need to refine your locating skills and how to locate. I am not saying this in a bad way. But to start with you aren't waving it over the service and using your gains, and narrowing in on the service. You are relying on the compas. I'm not sure what you connected on in that pit to direct connect, if the service is communications or electrical you should not be direct connect ( or be able to direct connect ). This should be done with the induction clamp, first and foremost for safety. Like I said I am not trying to be an asshole it might be different over there then Australia. But I have seen so many videos of you guys locating services but not narrowing down with the gains. This means there is a huge chance that where you mark the service, you are actually 400mm off. To be as accurate as possible you need to narrow in with your gains
Thank you very much for your feedback. I don't solely depend on the compass. What I do is initially identify the peak and then null it back to confirm my Peak mode. This is how I ensure that I've accurately marked the utility line. I employ a peak and null method, which is the most reliable way to locate, ensuring that your null aligns with your peak. Regarding the electrical line, I conduct tests on the Quasi box to ensure it's safe to access and directly connect to the ground. I primarily use the ground wire within the Quasi box for my locating purposes, given that our power grid is grounded as a whole. As for using the compass, I utilize it to determine the direction in which the current is flowing along the line. However, I don't solely rely on the compass when pinpointing the cable; the key is the peak and null method in utility pinpointing.
Heck yeah brother! I've been locating for 7 years and wish I'd started sooner. Like a treasure hunt all day long. Always fun to mark an intersection and dodge the traffic.
For a 10-minute video on RU-vid, the average viewing time is around 4 minutes. Therefore, producing a video that is longer than 15 minutes is simply unnecessary at this time. I may have longer videos after I get more subscribers (about 2,000).
