BTW Sam should contribute a small amount monetarily to the house. The money Sam contributes can be put in a savings account by you or hubby (but don’t tell her that part) and once Sam decides to move out. You can gift the savings back to her as a parting gift. Believe me she will be very thankful!

My vote is for a black door! That will add to the elegance of your home. I don’t have a daughter, but all my friends do. Every single one have the same type of relationship with their daughters. The older they get, the better it gets. I’am a boy mom, they have different issues lol

I don’t think her daughter is disrespectful. She’s just a teenager. She did not curse at her mom at all . And you can tell she was playing. I have three teens and my kids are worst . My one daughter I had to put out bc she was disrespectful. Trust I know disrespect and that wasn’t it .

You are right when you say some parents make their kids pay some bills in the house. I let mine know you cannot live with other people for free. My son many years ago, tried me with that mouth and slam my door. When he came home from school he had no cloths, no bed, i clear his bedroom out. I took the door off the hinges. He said where are my clothes, where is my atari. I said the only thing i have to do is put a roof over your head. Don't put a sheet over the door either. He had a towel and a face cloth, soap, toothpaste. But i donated all his tennis shoes, and clothes. I said you will have to wash your cloths out and underwear everyday. He slept with a pillow, blanket, sleeping bag. That weekend we went to serve the homeless ppl, the next day, all sports were cancel for him. I worked my ass off and for him to disrespect me like that i wasn't having it. How long was he without his tv and the things he took for granted? 1 year! He wrote me letters apologize almost every day. It taught him a valuable valuable lesson. He said mom and dad i couldn't believe how stupid i was. Fast forward hes married with a grown daughter and a teenage son, with several degrees, 6 figures job, and was in the military. He learn from his mistakes, but he learn. I want to inform you kids this is your parents house, we work are asses off to give you a beautiful place to lay your head. Nobody will treat you like your parents. Remember this if you don't like mom and dads rules, get out. We love you unconditionally but respect your parents. There is going to come a day where you might not have your parents. Thank them, be nice and kind. If you don't like the way your parents talk to you come talk to us off camera. I'm fighting cancer, we wont be around forever❤Grandma Teresa

I painted my front door, Interior side of it black a few years ago and like you at first was not sure, but went for it. At the time we only painted the doors and not the trim and a couple years after, we painted the trim to match and have no regrets. In my home it’s giving high contrast in my entry way and a huge focal point.

You are a super mom! I love ❤ the lifestyle and home decor vlogs. I know what you are dealing with when it comes to teenagers who think they know it all. My mom made me pay $40.00 a month to live in her home. She did not need the money from me but she was trying to teach me that you can’t live free anywhere and I appreciated that lesson. When they get to that age where the mouth will not stop that’s when I put my foot down and let them know who is boss, because I can’t stand a smart mouth. One day my son sent me a text saying mom now I understand what you were saying when you said you don’t pay any bills in this home 😂! He said I hate adulting 😂! Anyway , yes paint the door black and put one lamp in that corner of the living room maybe one that curves over. Your channel is amazing keep doing what you are doing.

Hey, Amayi, I loved this video because it's so relatable ! I think most women are trying to do it all and stay afloat . I always say my family in my house thinks I have octopus arms, lol. I have 5 kids, a dog and my husband . I have a 18 year old too, and girl, it's a struggle. Sam reminds me of her they think they are ready for real life and dont have a clue ! I just love all your videos. My oldest son called me one day and he didn’t greet me as usual, he started off; “How did you do it?” I replied, “Do what son?” He asked me how did I pay the house note, pay private school tuition, after school programs and activities, vacations, weekend activities, food, light bill, gas for house and gas for the car, lunch money, etc. He couldn’t get past the cost of electricity; let along his rent.

I vote no on the black door.. Your foyer table pops from that light colored door. Your home has an airy feel to it accented with black tones. That black door with the black table may be too heavy and just look like two shadows. Especially at night. Maybe get some black construction paper or something to cover the whole door area first to get a feel before you commit to painting it.

Living with your young adult children can be challenging. You and your husband are doing a wonderful job so don’t worry you will get through the growing pains. Believe me once your daughter goes out into the world she will see the reality of personal responsibility. The Pocono trip had me cracking up. 🤣 I knew you did not pick that Air BnB as it didn’t seem to be your style. Your brother try his best. I think the door will look lovely painted black, maybe you can test the look by putting a few strips of black duct tape on the door to see how it would look painted and then make a final decision. Your house is fabulous Amiya, you done a beautiful job with the decor. Hopefully you will not sell it anytime soon as the layout of your home is gorgeous!
