Personally, I think the fact that it is a 12 hour shift is the issue leaving less time in the day. I love nightshifts - no idiot managers micromanaging you, so much better for sanity

I agree and its true for my case aswell, I am able to go have a 5-10 min break whenever I want or need,, wearing headphones listening to books and music and so on. It's a car factory, production line, anyway, the main key is to get a good 7-8 hour sleep each day, eat healthy and have coffee ready just to be sure. I always have coffee even when not working , I simply like it, anyway I steered away from the topic.

I have to say that I worked grave shift security for over 5 years straight and you CAN do it, it's actually easier on graves. You can eat anytime you'd like, RUN when on patrols, stop in a stairwell and do some crunches or pushups, hell I used to train for half an hour every night during shift then go train for another hour to 1.5 after work at 6AM when no one is there so it's even better. Just focus on diet and get it done.

This is an older video and you probably won't see this comment, but thanks for the video. I am on my third week in field training as a Sheriff Deputy working 6pm to 6am and it has been hard to adjust. I've been feeling depressed and sluggish when I wake up and have no appetite or drive to do anything but majority of it goes away by 10pm. It's difficult trying to figure out how to balance everything and still lift weights and eat right.

Thanks for the good feedback dude! Sometimes I just want to go straight to the gym, even after nightshifts. But even your body needs a little bit of rest to get more effort out of it.

I haven’t worked 3rd in 21 yrs, life happened and I start a new job in a few days which is 3rd shift. Doing what I gotta do..adjust and overcome

Omg I love you and NEEDED to hear this!!! I'm a cop, 12 hour shifts (6pm-6am) and JUST found out I'm going to nights 2 weeks before my damn show! Been on day shift for 2 YEARS!!! I hope I can make the quick adjustments and stay on track for the small window I will have to make adjustments....i may be the biggest BITCH to people as well...but I so appreciate this message!!!

I work in a 5 star hotel as a night auditor. My hours are 10pm-6:30am. Has taking me at least 5months to get used to it but still ha e days where I feel like shit so I bought some home gym equipment for what I need and works out fine for me. And I just go to the gym on my days off

I work in mining, 8 days on 6 days I work 5:30am to 5:30pm I still go the gym after work but I definitely don’t perform at the same level as on my days off. I probably get to sleep about 6 or 7 hours when I’m at work. Which honestly isn’t enough. On day 8 I’m pretty much useless at work

I work 8pm - 9am 5 nights a week, trying to make gains is so hard. Barely ever sleep, try to squeeze in workouts anytime I can but it’s just not enough I hate it

Yeah it hurts man ! I’m working night as security 8pm-8am then I go home do my breakfast and then I try to get 7 hour sleep . I can also sleep for couple of hours at night as well during break but I’m pretty worried about my muscle gains

I work 3rd shift in a steel factory, I try to hit 2 a days , weights when I come home in the morning, Calisthenics when I get up in evening. I love working out, but am I doing too much? When I take rest day, it's like I shut down and go into a coma

İt is bad for your body and brain. Even it could make you age faster i guess. Give your body some time to rest and than some time to grow. Firstly you should fill the blank. Than make some grow after this.

I been working nights for awhile now and decided to start working for the past two years. Since then i see plenty of improvements and i try to go right after work or early in the morning. The only down fall going in the morning you get the soccer moms to socialize to people other than that the gym is dead which to me is great because i dislike crowded places. The bad thing about night shift is the days off do keep your sleep patter or adjust to enjoy some time with friends.

Work pay bills but bodybuilding is my dream. I mostly struggle with when to eat. I only get enough time to eat once at work and people are telling to split it between 5-6 meals all day so I get 3 meals a day if I eat before bed and when I first wake up

security guard here. 8pm to 8am shift. (permanent night shift) 9am reach home. 10am sleep. wake up around 4pm or 5pm. workout 1 hour. prepare to shower around 6.30pm and off to work. repeat process.

Good video ! I work 12 hours (Security) Up at 1700 Work at 1900 Work till 0700 Train for an hour or more Sleep 7 hours Repeat Yes sometimes i feel shit and not optimal but as Marc says life is hard and bodybuilding is a hobby and I have to pay my bills. Pretty sure Ronnie Coleman would have worked nights at some point as he was a cop ? Eddie Abbew who competed at Olympia was a nurse and also worked shifts.

Kenneth Diaz sure it can. It’s actually been scientifically proven that your body is at its best when you sleep for 5.5-6 hours a day and that humans actually sleep to much. And no Japan is obsessed with perfection and the stress from that is what makes people suicidal

I work nights and it is difficult at times, if i get a decent amount of sleep during the day and then work the night shift, i'll be ok to go gym in the morning after i finish, but some times i can't sleep properly so have to sleep in x2 3-4 hour splits and don't want to do nothing after shift apart from sleep!

Man wished I had listen to you when I was 18 I19 j bout to turn 26 next month and I remember when I was 19 20 21 and boxing and gym where like a drug to me I would also smoke weed but I remembered I would put that over my job friends and family and while is good to have discipline life is more than just that well you love and you learn doing night shifts I go to the gym then go to a boxing gym then go to sleep or pins 12 or 1 you kinda just have to push it I mean o don’t have kids right now lol so is easy for me to do that but hey thanks for the content

If i work alot i try to focus more on eating and only doing compound lifts few times a month i maintain better just lift when u can life goes on time it to lift more on vacations and days off but get resst

Can some one give me a tip ? I work in bakery ( bread and stuff ) from 11pm to like 12am, 6 days a week , runing from one to another table , making bread , making bread , baking all kinds of stuff. So when i come back home @ 12am i feel tired just wanna hit the bed and sleep. Can some one please help me get in track and like give me a tip how to make a day schedule cuz i really want to get back to working out like i did before i got the job. I have only 11 hours a day to fit in. Anyone's opionion is highly respected.

My best advice would be to immediately go to bed after work, BUT, help yourself to some bcaas. They aid in recovery as well as being known to cause some drowsiness, so they should knock you out pretty quick. Get your 8 hours, or at the least 7. I rise one hour early to eat, supplement, digest, then take a pre workout about 10 minutes before leaving for the gym. Remember: rest/recovery/refuel/ your body and look into a pre workout to help your mental focus hope this helps bro, it sucks being short on time, but hell a man's gotta eat right?

Oh, one more thing. You COULD decide to reverse the process and workout first. Trust me a couple scoops of caffeine would wake up the walking dead, especially the top quality ones. However, when you go home to rest after a hard lifting session, it may be pretty damn difficult to fall asleep so I wouldn't personally enjoy this method, but a few of my friends do. It ultimately comes down to what works best for you. :-)

If anyone out there sees this maybe you can help me answer this question... I might go nights and my concern is whether to do it before or after it’s just a 7 hours shirt and easy work so I should have the energy. Does it matter when you eat your food. For example, I would rather work first and then get in my calories throughout the day. If working out is the last thing on my list to do and eating is the first thing I do instead is it the same? If that makes sense

How should I track my macros properly on nights? I'm working 2300-0700. I use a activity tracker and everything gets jacked when midnight hits and restarts my stats.

That schedule shouldn't interfere with gains if that is a steady shift. Just flip flop the day. If he goes to sleep right after work then upon waking eat meal 1 and go from there. For years I worked rotating shifts backwards around the clock, working a different shift every week. Talk about messing with your body's rhythm. I was able to make sone gains.

Eat 1500 Cal and burn 700 so basically your body thinks your taking in 800 calories,you'll lose 5 pounds a week

I work a twelve hour swing, 7 to 7 and it is two weeks of night then two weeks of days. I would kill to have just one shift lol gains suffer pretty bad some times.

I was at the gym in Vegas at 2am at LVAC on Maryland Parkway cuz I was super dedicated to getting shredded. These Brazilian strippers would always compliment me on my physique and they were really nice. I'm in the shower and I hear all this laughing and giggling. The three of them are in ONE shower!🤦🏾...WTF?!? I just acted like I didn't notice and got dressed for work. 😂
