Back in 1976 when I was looking for my first car/truck. I found a 1967 Econoline truck on the local grocery store parking lot with a for sale sign on it. I took my Late Dad back to look at it and he nixed that idea pretty quick. I'm like Dad they only want $700.00 for it he still said no. So I ended up with a 1965 Chevy Chevelle Malibu SS as my first car. I got it for $675.00 so I "saved"$25.00 by listening to my Dad. I wish I could listen to him and Mom right now ,but they have both passed away. Dad passed on Feb.15, 2019 and Mom passed on May 28, 2021.

They don't make aftermarket body panels for these vans, yet! I know of a guy in New Hampshire and one in Pennsylvania. I don't if they're convenient.

So the Econolines were made from 1961-1967. The headlight trim and Econoline emblem are pretty easy to find and pretty much all the same from year to year. They all had the weight above the gas tank and the 144 was replaced by the 170. I have a 1962 window van that was called the Econoline Falcon Club Wagon. I pulled my engine and had it completely torn down to the block. It is bored to 177 with dome top pistons, a clay smith thumper cam, a Holley 350 2 barrel carb and 6-2 headers that dump out the side. It's lowered about 8" in the back with Qa1 coilovers and a 4-link. The front is lowered about 6" with a flip kit. Let me know if you don't find an emblem. A neighbor of mine had four of those Econolines, two pickups and two vans. Also a friend of my dad’s had a pickup too.

Reckon this could be one mean hot rod or rat rod like a double cab conversion with a nice Ford v8 302 4V with a 5 shift and abit of wheel tub work for wider tyres maybe a 4 link air bag set up if its possible with this layout...endless possibilities

For the light surround, try Ian Rousell, he did one a couple if years ago where he removed the lights, I'm sure I've seen the besels hanging on a wall in the background.

Ya bondo does not stick to galvanized metal lol. I tried it once, had it all smooth n looking good, slapped it n it popped off n I had a big chunk of galvanized bondo, it took the coating right off, the bondo stuck on the 2nd attempt tho lol

Sweet Econoline

I rebuilt a 1967 econoline van a few years back. Gas tanks were hard to find. I found out a falcon tank was same size. Bought a cheap one and relocated fill tube from top to rear corner and it worked great. The patch panels for corners appear to be a bit hard to find now. Good luck to our dad!!
