Working on Weighting and Buoyancy with New Undergarments

In a recent video I touched on weighting with the Sidewinder. I mentioned having to lug around 28lbs of led on my rig. Since then I changed my undergarments to multiple layers of form fitting fleece. It worked great. Dropped to only 6lbs. But, because I can never leave things alone, I went ahead and purchased a Fourth Element Halo 3D. Needed another 4lbs to break even but well worth not having to put on multiple layers on a rocking boat. So far, loving this combo.

Hey man, looking really good. curious... dual tanks on the butt? I'm guessing one is O2, what's the other? I'm very much looking forward to beginning. My dry suit comes in December, mod 1 training in Feb, my unit arrives in May.

Thanks pal. The AL13 is oxygen. The white steel 2L is diluent. I was running air dil on that dive but since doing the trimix class I’ve kept both bottles, even on air dil, over using my bailout as dil.

@@familyscuba1292 so you’re carrying two diluents? An air and a heliox? I noticed your deco cylinder. I won’t get to mod 2 until much later in 2023 I imagine.

@@meridacavediver The tanks on my butt plate supply the rebreather, O2 and Dil. The left sidemount tank is my bailout, air or trimix depending on depth. The right sidemount tank is my deco bailout, usually 50%. I’ll carry an AL40 on my right shoulder with O2 bailout if appropriate. The tiny tank on my left shoulder is an inflation bottle.

Shoot me your email. I’ll send you a word document outlining the setup. It was shared with me by a very experienced diver in this area.

@@familyscuba1292 Hey there, I don’t think I ever saw this message lol. Apologies. So I’m CCR certified now and will go for Mod 2 in October. I’m also getting used to my dry suit. Everything seems to be going pretty well but in my readings for trimix I’m seeing (just beginning) so read that I shouldn’t use it for my dry suit. The water you’re in is a lot colder than me, What are you running? How’s your diving going? Haven’t seen any new videos.

This kind of trim is at another level. Well done. In my drysuit in side mount I always feel floaty at my feet. Air migration? Light fins? Probably just me. I'm working on it. Thanks for the vid!

I’m typically very leg heavy. With the new undergarments and the bump helmet on I was fairly leg floaty as well. I moved the spine weight slightly further down. That seemed to help. It’s never perfect. Or at least it feels that way to me. Just gotta keep on working for it.

@@ivoryjohnson4662 That’s awesome. I had a Hollis SMS 100 before. I loved it. Was a little worried about switching to the Katana 2, but it’s been great! Have fun taking your class and get ready to be bitten by the CCR bug.
