This is just a video about 3D printing a new tool to help out in my shop. Hopefully it will give others an idea of how useful a 3D printer can be for creating shop helpers. Had my first problem at about 300 hours on the K1 and suspect it was caused by trying to cheap out on filament and buying a couple KG of SUNLU PLA that was nothing but trouble and poor prints. I am finally getting comfortable with ALIBRE that this was all designed on.

That is really nice Ed. They turned well! I am printing some paint pyramids ass I type this. After not using the printer for a couple of years. My son just bough a Bamboo 3 d printer that is impressive multi color self leveling and you extrude many types of filament.😀🛫

Thanks. Not great prints because of not adjusting the extrusion after the nozzle change but strong and functional. This K1 can print as good as the Bambu printers for under $400 so I decided to try it. I have to vent this outside so I can try the other filaments that create very toxic fumes when printed. This one is auto leveling and so easy to use. Fun for this old man. Thanks for watching.

Almost there. 3d printers in the home is amazing. So much technology from our lifetime has been replaced by many innovative things. Are you going to be making a wood project?

This one has been a lot of fun. I have 3 wood projects started but too cold to stay down in the shop long with how cold that heat pump water heater makes it. This printer I can run from upstairs. Thanks for watching.

Are you going to make the print files available? Did a quick search online and found one vertical fence with one hold down bolt that just looks like problems. And about a zillion references to a MagSwitch kit. I think solving the "finger" issues should be easy enough so long as you have a good, solid base.
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 8 месяцев назад
Once I get things worked out I was planing on posting them. The base is very solid with 5 walls and high levels of infill. I had planned on epoxying some steel rods in the 2 holes for more strength but don't need them. I have several ideas for the fingers but want to try thinner TPU fingers first. I started out planning on using spring steel feeler gauge stock so that is another option I can go back to but will have to order that. Thanks for watching.

@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 any chance of you releasing the files I really need one of these and would love to try yours before going the route of designing my own. Love the replaceable feathers.
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 7 месяцев назад
@@kamdenkers I will say the thinner tpu fingers are still temperature sensitive and it looks like it will need spring steel fingers but haven't had time to get back to it. Probably best to design your own as I used it to saw all the stock I needed right now and i have to find some 1/2 hard feeler stock in different thicknesses and form them to fit.

Just got a 3D printed thanks to your inspiration... Curious as to where you get your filament. Do you get it off Amazon or have you found a better place. I do not know the first thing about it. Thanks.

I got most of my filament from Creality. They have some good discounts and their hyper speed filament works best with the K1 printer I have found. Amazon also sometimes has some great pricing if you are just buying one roll at a time. PLA is usually the lowest cost, safest, and easiest to get good results from for starting. Some other filaments can emit dangerous gasses that must be vented outdoors so be sure to follow the filament manufacturers directions and warnings. Have fun and printables is a great place to find files to play with. Thanks for watching.

Hi 👋, URHC, I hope you are keeping safe and well, great looking 👀 FingerBoard , I used to use a Wadkin Re-Saw, with power feed, And you had to make sure you clamped the fence down well, and truly, If I remember, rightly it had a 4 inch tipped blade on it, Great 3-D. Printing job., Look forward to seeing your next Lego kit , 😂, Phil from the moulin,

Well done! Having worked for a few years in FreeCAD, I know how difficult it can be to get multiple, separate, parts to fit together. And seeing all of those pieces come together was very impressive.

I am loving Alibre. Easy to work in the assembly mode and see exactly how things will fit. My biggest problem was over extrusion after the nozzle change on the K1. You may want to play with the Alibre Atom trial to see if it would make working in assembly easier for you. Thanks for watching.

You could laser the fingers out of some EVA foam like the cheap rubber floor tiles.

That is an option I have thought about also. I'm printing another TPU set with thinner walls to try first. I didn't realize how temperature sensitive the TPU is but I like how it has constant pressure when flexing. Thanks for watching.
