Stockton Firefighters responded to multiple reports of a structure fire on August 13th, 2016 in the 2000 block of South San Joaquin Street. The first alarm assignment arrived on scene to fire in both units of the duplex, in the attic, in the back yard, and spreading to an adjacent structure (C exposure). Engine 2 pulled an attack line, flowing water to the rear of the structure and transitioning to an interior attack. A second line was pulled to the rear of the structure as the Fire Attack crew knocked down the interior flames. The Vent crew cut two holes, but encountered unusual (layered) construction when trying to break through.
The fire audio is not necessarily synchronized to the timing of the video. This video has been edited and text added. The final photo was altered using the app Prisma.
We thank you for your views, support, feedback, and comments. Comments that contain profanity, incite controversy, or are intended to 'troll' will be deleted. The Stockton Fire Department consists of 12 firehouses and responds to 38,000 calls annually; averaging approximately 400 working structure fires a year.
Stockton Firefighters are proud to serve and protect the citizens and City of Stockton, CA.

Stockton Fire has, by far, the most professional, capable Dispatch I think I have ever heard. Kudos to their training.

Nice vid, I like the displayed written comments giving us info on what is being done and why. Add to that, the radio traffic in the background fills in with more information. Great training video too.

Fire going out at less than a minute after arrival, interior attack at 2 minutes..... Beats just about everybody else I have seen. Main fire out at 6 minutes, peripheral stuff taken down by 9 minutes. Overall clock at 15 minutes and the fire is almost dead. Just awesome, some videos I see they are still figuring out hydrants and exposures at 5 minutes and are flowing water at 10 after arrival on scene.

Man I wish I had access ro the full scope of radio traffic in my town. Everything but initial dispatch has gone digital or locked down. I appreciate the time and effort you put into all these videos, especially the pure educational ones. I have always an interest in fire science and firefighting. By watching your videos, I can forget the text description and listen souly to your dispatcher and radio traffic to understand the fire ground and what is happening. The "size up" is the first thing I hear to imagine what the fire looks like and situation and it's alwayes on que or updated as units respond. This is something I or the general public could never understand without your time and effort for these videos. I thank you for that tremendously. 👍 Plus, like others have said you, have one hell of a dispatcher and comaany as a whole. Watching other departments videos now, its crazy how unorganized and unprofessional they can be. (not knocking other departments or first responders what so ever. I respect them all, just saying). Much respect.

just curious.. what started the bay areas tradition of painting their helmets multiple colors.. or is there an actual point to it?

The checkered red and white helmet is worn by our firefighters on the Truck. We have been doing it in our department as far back as the 1940's. The Truck has aways functioned as a separate entity from the Engine- since the first proposal for our Fire Department in 1850. The original reason to paint the Truckman's helmet a different color scheme is thought to differentiate a Truckman (apart from an Engineman or Captain) through the smoke at a structure fire. It has now been formed into part of our tradition and culture.

The utilities are soooo slow you should almost have an emergency utility truck assigned to the battalion. They can hunt down the necessary cutoffs or carry the tools to get the connections cut fast if needed...... I expect the utilities are going to get VERY short handed with the law suit they are facing.

I remember the cages on the doors when I lived out there. Just like Jersey. They're turning us into the 3rd world and we let them. Unreal.
