Dear John I have never been so bold to call anyone by their first name I hope that you do not mind Sir. I don’t care what camera that you use be it Canon Nikon Panasonic or Ricoh. Now you got me started you are an artist my friend because for a pocket camera the photographs that you have taken with it are phenomenal. I would love to see your photographs of Glen Coe with the Pentax Kiii mk iii Monochrome if someone could just lone you one then that would be something else.

Thanks, John. I really appreciate you walking us through your composition process. It is so helpful to know that even accomplished photographers have to work at finding what will work. The image focused on the rocks in the water was so atmospheric! To me it had a kind of stormy, moody feel. The image with the sunset, rocks, and trees framing worked well for me. Loved the contrast of the silhouetted trees and the dark rocks with the bright, warm sunset colors on the clouds in the distance. Thank you for another engaging video.

Thanks James! It was one of those days where I was sure we were in for a great sunset and it came to nothing. The composition idea just came to me while I was trying to salvage something from the trip!

Agh, Just one of those days, John, happens so often, I always found it hard to get foreground interest on that side of the Loch. And annoyingly on the other side their is few and far between stopping points when you see potential shots. But as Photographers we are rarely pleased with the conditions, but when we get a shot its always worth the effort.

Yeh, I always struggle with the western side too. Luss and a few spots around Tarbet are about all I've ever found worth shooting. I had planned to go a little further up the loch on this day but the weather was closing in and I didn't fancy a drive back from Rowardennan in the dark with snow

We've all been there. Sunset -check, overhanging trees - check, water - check, foreground interest - check. Unfortunately none of the damn stuff will align with the lens and available space you've got. That easily accessible part of east Lomondside isn't great for compositions. A good shout at Sallochy is Dubh Lochan. There's a barely distinguishable path from behind the Uni campus that runs between the road and the WHW. Nice woodland, long narrow loch, hills behind. Would suggest late summer/autumn with wellies ... always with wellies Strathcashel Point is a banker with the sun setting west in the late summer as well.

Yeh i walked the track from Sallochy up to Rowardennan via the Dubh Lochan. Lovely spot.
