Thanks very much for such a wonderful course you are teaching us. I consider myself as a poor communicator, but based on growth mindset I can work on it so that I could become an effective communicator to some extent and this course is the cornerstone for me to improve and finally master the art.

This is great info. When I struggled as a supervisor, I failed to make the workplace fun for everyone. Even though the other employees were maybe not the most experienced or competent, I made the situation worse by being a taskmaster rather than a supportive boss. Then, as my boss came down on me for both unfinished tasks AND unhappy coworkers, my stress increased. As a result, work became an unsafe space for me, a feeling that made me less comfortable and competent in my role. If I have advice for anyone having some struggles in a supervisory role, it's to follow the insights of the video to find a good balance between being a Taskmaster and a Supporter. And, in my opinion, it's best to start as supportive to build team cohesion while steadily identifying and fixing the weakpoints. This keeps the team on your side and also makes you look good because you are always seemingly getting better at your job in your boss's eyes. Starting as a Taskmaster before loosening up is riskier: you better get superb results to keep the boss on your side; if you are a hard taskmaster AND your results aren't great, then your boss has no choice but side with the rest of the team as well as ask you to be better at your job.

I get the feeling expectations of these communications standards change with differing cultural norms or even corporate interests. Otherwise this was a very validating video for me and I did not expect that.
